Yes some are cutscene, but some are definitely gameplay, note the lifebar
(and reduced quality graphics)

You don't understand how console life-cycles work do ya? Why do you think COD3 looks good, while COD4 (lighting wise) is almost on par with the Killzone CG.

This should be moved to a forum post...Mods, where are U!!! Its just like that Mario cake article a few weeks ago (which I think was canned)

Although Amazon is only one site...anyhow, I agree with ya. I think HGS will improve PS3 sales and since The train of major 1st party games will continue next month and through summer, then really pick up speed into the holiday 07', we will continue to see console sales increase with that game momentum.

Dude, stop skewing things! I admit Sony misled bit as well, but the 380 figure refers to worldwide, which is accurate. The deal though is that some of those games will only appear in select territories. I believe that the 145 figure is specifically for the US.

Considering that the major PS3 games are pretty much guaranteed to come out sometime in the next six-eight months and Microsoft seems to show 0 signs that they will fix the inherent hardware problems, I think the answer is a no-brainer.

For the record, I feel extremely lucky that my 360 (purchased Jan 06) has not yet given me the "red rings of doom". Knock on wood, lol.

Yes, this would apply to what you are saying, but it would also apply to smaller increments in time, like the amount of time passed between when a bullet enters a texture and exits that same texture, and the resulting warping that said texture just went through. While yes, a full 4D game would affect absolutely everything, this concept can be scaled to whatever level the hardware can support. This is the point of the author. He says that the 360 and PS3 can both use this, but his claim is ...

I think the point is that the author claims these types of effects will sometime in the near future be possible in a realistic game, I.E something with enough fidelity to be believable (graphic-wise) that is the difference.

Yes ERQ, infact I think DMM may be using this (or elements of it) see above comment

Not sure about the release, but this is beta footage, so I would expect sometime within the next 6 months..

Here is the problem with articles like this, they always show tech demos. if we saw this being demoed in a real game, no one would be arguing!

6940d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Good job ignoring the article. The author points out that procedural texture generation which can update in real time is EXACTLY what 4D is. If you are going to ignore the author's own definition, then whatever else you say regarding this subject should also be ignored.

Remember, these are not things which we have yet seen in a game, so until it is proved that this concept is actually impossible to employ THIS generation, maybe you should quit the bashing and wait and see.

Yes, I totally agree with you. If the PS3 can really do this fully, in an actual game this would be incredible. Texture warping means such things as the ability to actually create holes in things like bullet holes, or the aforementioned burning house actually turning to ash eventually.

Reportedly, the real tech demo for Killzone this past GDC included footage where bullets ripped through walls, and in so doing, allowed light to stream through. If they were doing it using the...

World in conflict looks pretty damn incredible. I'm not really an RTS player, but this might make me one.
