That one year timed content on destiny is a jab at Microsoft for wanting destiny to either be an exclusive or a year exclusive on the Xbox brand. They said no then approached Sony for said deal.
Timed exclusives here or there are not bad, but when it is the only way Microsoft can claim exclusives outside of their repetitive circle and they are well known for their monopoly tactics throughout their history, people do not like it.

Not really. It all equal outs. To build a worth while PC(not the "you can build one for $600" ones), you are at about the price of three consoles. On average that is about 16 years of gaming on consoles.
Games are cheaper, no doubt there, but they also eventually push you to upgrade components.
