so a movie set in one town with one dungeon. It'll probably be streamlined as well so it appeals to the Disney crowd.

Can't wait !

well, Bioware certainly do.

it doesn't, it hovers silently above your head - it uses plasma conduit technology

that's the head controller that allows you to 'think play' the games.

how are Morrowind/Oblivion/Fallout 3/New Vegas/Witcher etc worlds stale ? !!! - these are some of the most stunning, vibrant, haunting, punchy & exciting worlds in gaming per se.

You clearly haven't experienced these adult RPG's which have all won awards & critical acclaim for their game world design.

sad story - this poor chap hasn't played RPG's at all.

Fable series is light, goofy, cartoony & appeals (or should appeal!) mostly to younger & casual gamers. They're basically Wii games.

Elder Scrolls series on the other hand is deep, gritty, awe inspiring, complex and requires serious time investment.

Both Fable & Elder Scrolls games are great for the audience they are designed for but trying to compare them is like comparing a Disney film with Peter Jacksons Lord of The Rings Trilogy - not poss...

@manimal - essentially spot on. The Hollywood analogy is so true. Bubble vote added for telling the truth plain & simple.

yes indeed. I know some good folks who love Wii games - think the Wii is the best thing ever ! - one of them is a doctor, another a university lecturer yet in the gaming world, complex games such as Fallout/Witcher/Elder Scrolls etc baffle them. So in a gaming sense they do not have the capacity to enjoy these games.

Bioware are simplifying their games to such an extent that in general they are now appealing more to younger gamers who don't have the capacity to enjoy th...

A gamers age & intellect will dictate who plays, enjoys or dislikes a game - for example the Lego games (which are brilliant) in general do not appeal to gamers who play the top FPS, sports simms or RPG's.

The consumers who enjoy Lego games are in general a younger more casual audience. If the developers then made Lego games more complex adding adult themes, strategy & strong RPG elements the fans would be disappointed, right ?

@moaradin

The story is not the issue - it's the RPG mechanics that we're talking about.

And as I wrote previously:

"...This doesn't make them bad games, in fact they're very good games..."

Story & narrative in DA is first class as games go, but if I want a story I'll read a good book or watch a good film, not play a computer game.

Stories in computer games whatever the ge...

hey, open your eyes DrewKauffman !

You've only highlighted one miniscule element. There are many major RPG issues with recent Bioware games.

It's now common knowledge that their game development strategy has been to simply churn out a series of 'more accessible' games (ie casual games) as quickly and cheaply as possible for quick financial gain. This doesn't make them bad games, in fact they're very good games, but categorizing them as...

as an RPG, by comparison Witcher 2 proves DA spectacularly inferior in all departments.

But we all know DA belongs in the 'RPG: Dumbed down & casual' section.

I'm a big 360 fan but can't argue with Sony on this one.

Kinect for the 360 is an embarrassment - it's essentially for kiddie widdies and extremely casual gamers, designed to broadly compete with Nintendo, so if the plan is to integrate it for all future xbox games then kiss goodbye to triple A, B & C titles - Microsoft might as well rebrand it with a big 'W' and three small 'i's'.

we all stopped taking Molyneux seriously after the Fable 1 hype which led us to believe that it would be a next gen RPG - in fact turned out to be not much better than a cutesy Wii clone.

hey Bioware,
simply take a look at the likes of Elder Scrolls/Fallout/Witcher series to remind yourselves of what you should be producing.

CD Projekt (Witcher) have only been going 4 years and their games are superior to Biowares who have been going since 1995 - that's embarrassing !

"Recent RPGs like Dragon Age II are entirely eclipsed by this level of quality. I make no joke when I say that the smallest ghetto in The Witcher 2 is more memorable than the whole city of Kirkwall."

says it all, Bioware.
