why aren't you playing RPG's then - they last 50-100-200 hours !
can someone explain how a 4 hour casual game vs a 100+ hour RPG such as Fallout: New Vegas is value for money ?
whether praising or criticizing, reviews should be objective, well written, structured and factual and this is non of these things. It's just a forum post rant by some random nobody who clearly has an issue with RPG's for some reason. Move on. Quickly.
There's no gameplay here - it's all cut scene/intro ! If you want a non-casual classic RPG with massive non-linear open world & flexible in-depth character building with tons of content then Two Worlds Two is without doubt the way to go.
Nothing wrong with DA, in fact story telling, narrative and voice acting is excellent but important to remember that this linear Fantasy Action Adventure is designed to appeal more to casual/younger gamers.
some are, some aren't. Simple. - even kids know this.
But it's abundantly clear that peter molyneux has gone down the casual gaming route after promising and failing to deliver an RPG masterpiece - a complete mystery as he & Lionhead Studios are undoubtedly very talented and capable of doing so.
Of course financial success has been forthcoming but then that's the case with many disappointing games such as movie tie-ins and mediocre FPS's. ...
this is a very poor review, not well written & factually incorrect in areas.
Read IGn's and or Eurogamer's for well written, factual, objective and an all-round better perspective.

not if playing RPG's !
These massive sprawling RPG's ALWAYS come with bugs ! The quickest & most expedient way for devs to fix them is to release the game then gather all the feedback from day one buyers then address the fixes in one or two hits as quickly as possible - acts like a quick final beta. Despite rigorous testing, a fair proportion of glitches are not known to devs until the game is released and played by millions of people.
Look at the Witcher, award winning PC focused RPG - ...
Everyone knows that games of this magnitude & magnificence traditionally ship with bugs & glitches galore but that most will be fixed in due course so why on earth the moaners & whingers pre-order or leap head first into their nearest gamestore on day one is beyond comprehension.
Edge are right to reflect the buggyness in the score but they should caveat it with a bug & glitch free score as well - bet they'd give it a 9+
The Fable series is cartoony, goofy, linear, with shallow RPG gameplay mechanics - an RPG-lite that would be right at home on the Wii.

I'm afraid Dragons Age is a linear, purely commercially driven franchise masquerading as an RPG, designed to appeal to the casual gamer (wider audience). Despite excellent story-telling and narrative, don't be fooled by the RPG tag. Origins was more like an interactive story-book than a game let alone an RPG and DA 2 looks like being no different.
These games could have been absolute masterpieces if Bioware had stuck to their principles and developed a classic RPG exp...
This shallow, uninformed & poorly written 'review' doesn't even mention the PC version.

make this an RPG and it'll be brilliant !
this is re-hashed info that's been common knowledge for a few months now.
What we'd like to know:
Is the game open world or linear ?
How large is the game world ?
How long will it take to complete the main quest/side quests ?
How deep is character customization ?
How deep are the skill/ability/leveling mechanics ?

Of course financial success has been forthcoming so I doubt anyone's bothered but then that'...
To play the best open world RPG's requires patience, concentration, endurance and strategic thinking - the ability to explore at will is key for the true RPG experience and these games are aimed at and are best suited to the adult or more serious gamer and usually offer in excess of 100 hours playing time.
The majority of first person shooters, platformers and movie tie-ins are linear and are aimed squarely at the teenage/young adult market - they are much less involving,...
lots of interest here then, for this linear casual game masquerading as an RPG.
hey dchalfont, this ones for you !

Dumbed down RPG-lite casual games Dragons Age and Fable can never compete with the level of success enjoyed by developers of classic action RPG's like Fallout: New Vegas - it doesn't make any business sense whatsoever particularly as Bioware & Lionhead are more than capable of delivering games similar to Fallout's content, stature and maturity - they're clearly missing out big time on financial & critical success waaaay over and above anything their casual games will a...
