What a terrible article. They make it seem like they've done some sort of spy work here.
This is a placeholder price. If you ask about the system at Gamestop or if we're just telling you about it, we'll more than happily tell you we currently have it set at $300 but that Sony has not announced a price and it could change. This is how new product reservations work until a price is announced.
How many copies of this game must I own?! I have it for every damn system it's been released on and have played through it on all of them.
Quick tidbit here for you.
The 80GB system is worse than the 60GB. The 60GB has 100% backwards compatibility using hardware emulation. The 80GB system uses software emulation at tops out at about 85% backwards compatibility.
Therefore, if you see a 60GB selling for $200, expect to get less for the 80GB.
The principle of knowing how to run a business?
You always buy product for under the cost you sell it. That is how business works. Supply and demand does really exist.
I wish we were being bought off by Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo. Only the store managers receive free product and it's not very frequent, only a handful of times a year.
The reason Xbox 360 systems trade in for $40-45 is because of the hundreds of thousands of them that Gamestop currently has in stock, used, that are not selling. It doesn't help that a new design is on the market now and the customer interest on older models has dropped even further.
It's supply and demand.
1. $120 for a system that is sold for $350 is a very good deal. That is 1/3rd of it's sale value. In the world of reselling that is a higher margin that you would get on most items. Selling on Ebay or Craigslist is akin to having your own store front. If you are looking for an immediate sale with no need to ship or deliver you cannot compare the mediums. You're better off comparing it to a pawn shop.
2. Yes, the backwards compatibility feature DID increase your price....
Bioware. Simple as that.
Retro games ARE harder than modern games. Some by design, some by limitations, and many simply because game developers of the time didn't know better.
Honestly though, you thought the final boss in KH was difficult? Hah.
Piracy is easy for me to justify in one regard.
When a company no longer offers a game for sale new, then I see no reason why someone can't go out and pirate a copy. The industry already hates used game sales since they make no income from it. In this way, piracy and used game sales equal the same thing.
We seem to be missing Xenogears and Earthbound. Lets drop off Zelda and FFVII. All is well. FFVI in the #1 spot is exactly right though.
And Twilight has outsold most other authors and book series combined as well.
Sales don't make something good.
I hear ya. Thanks for being the first to say it.
The game is great and like Little Big Planet, people will see their friends with it and need to get a copy.
I don't quite understand why Metal Gear was on the list. Even Contra isn't that terrible once you've gotten enemy patterns down. It always surprises me when people talk about Demon's Souls being incredibly difficult. I felt the game, like Ninja Gaiden, requires skill. It's not punishing you simply to be difficult, it's difficult only until you practice.
Devil May Cry 3, Battletoads, and Super Ghouls and Ghosts on the other hand. They're bastards.
Didn't bother with the article.
Removing a feature that a system was sold as having is wrong. It is well within reason for people to be upset by this and to take action. I have ZERO plans of ever using the Other OS feature on my 60GB system, but I will join in on any class action lawsuit to have the option to use it back. I paid to have this feature.
For those of you saying that we agreed to the terms I would like to point out that Sony offers no alternative to their...
There are people that care about this idiot?
No Locke = Fail
I'm always surprised when someone tells me they own a 360 or PS3 and don't have an HDTV. It always makes me think "what's the point?" It's worse when someone asks for an RF Adapter...
Gotta admit I want the collector's edition just for the DS9 outfit.
Why Terra?
She's not the main character of Final Fantasy VI. It's easier to make an argument that there is no main character or that the plot as a whole is the main character.
I've even argued that Locke is the main character.
