Define innovation. Every genre is stagnant to some degree and relies on the same tropes and ideas it has since creation. The games that stand out, stand out because of the additions they make to the formula and quality of their story. There is also something to be said for actual design quality - within the levels, the characters, and the background mechanics.
There is nothing wrong with the old-school, turn based JRPG formula. The problem lies in the quality of the JRPG'...
There are dozens of "Gods" in video games. This question is asinine. Religion of various kinds has and does exist in games whether they are fictional or otherwise.
I am trying to figure out the reasoning behind this article.
Is it:
A) An attention grabbing headline to a poorly written article in the hopes to garner more traffic for an unknown website.
B) A poorly written article by a hack of a journalist with no zero credibility in the world of gaming.
C) Satire, which the author claims it is in the comments section.
D) A combination of all three, where it was an attention grabbing article from a...
You're wrong about Steam. it does let you play your single player games offline so long as you have played them online once.
Why shouldn't gamers expect a graphical leap? What is a new console generation if not a more powerful game? We have the ability to create larger and more dynamic worlds now with installations, DLC, and additional discs. It's with new technology that we can expand into better graphics.
It is silly to expect diminishing returns. Technology doesn't work that way.
I am shocked and delighted to see Tales of Vesperia, which would also be my choice, is number one.
This is, in fact, my favorite video game of all time.
Nothing to see here. It's just the VGA's. They are useless and shill to the highest payer. While I doubt Telltale gave them any money, it's likely this was their ploy to be credible.
Those don't look increased at all. They look fairly standard.

We're hoping to expand to internet sales next year.
There are no reasons for the costs to increase unless the programming languages have a dramatic change. More power in a machine does not mean increasing costs.
The only true cost to developing for a new console is the ability to create more than you could in the past.
Half Life 2 isn't from this generation.
This is troubling. I've used Kickstarter a number of times now and I had no idea that if a project was canceled that we, the backers, would not be refunded.
As I see it, they people proposing these projects should be setting a funding goal that is the expected cost of the entire project as a whole and that they should be obligated to refund the backers for a failed project.
I don't see myself as an investor on Kickstarter. I see myself as a person wil...
He likely violated his non-compete clause. He referenced and used a Wii, a competing product.
It's pretty clear cut. He shouldn't have done the commercial.
Also, "Blah blah blah, I am going to use Borderlands 2 as a way to grab hits on my blog even though what I am writing about doesn't concern the game at all, because no one is interested in what I have to say and it's the newest biggest game to grab attention."
Goes to show that any idiot with some free time can start up a blog and waste our time with whatever he deems important in his trivial life.
No, we don't need the next generation. The technology available has not significantly passed the point we are at now and we are not pushing the limitations of our media.
Seriously? Why would anyone think this would be out this year? It takes months and months to set up and launch a marketing campaign. Grand Theft Auto is not going to release without a massive internet and TV campaign to announce it.
I don't agree with Uncharted or Assassin's Creed.
For Uncharted, I don't feel the story or the concept has finished or run it's course. I think there is another game or two in the series but I don't want them right now. I want them three or four years from now after the first trilogy has had it's time and cooled. Enough time should pass for the return of Nathan Drake to have a meaningful impact and for us to be cheering when it happens.
This sounds like the greatest thing to happen to online gaming... ever.
