I think something like that is possible, with an online pass or OP-like system in place to allow playing of the ps3 copy.
That's how I'm imagining this working anyway.
I would say "because it is a reviewer copy", but there seems to be other unnecessary info for that to be the case.(based on your comment)

It supports nearly any memory solution, and otherwise I don't see what else has to be open. The PS3 and Xbox are far more proprietary, and recent actions taken by both companies imply they will only become MORE so.

the last time Nintendo announced a bunch of games incoming months after actual release... was the 3ds.
it took kid icarus and metal gear solid a full year to release, paper Mario nearly two, and animal crossing won't be out until next year.

The graphics from what I've seen are incredible, actually. Go look up pikmin adventures gameplay videos. Smooth framerate and the characters look like actual real life toys... pretty awesome.
I disagree(though I didn't hit "disagree"). The 3ds has two games for every one the vita has.
Now if only more of them would release outside of Japan...
Halo CE Is my favorite. The following games became more and more corridor based, (especially 2 and 3) and I never played the online multiplayer so that doesn't come into play for me.
