People watch the awards more for the exclusive previews and new game announcements. The awards are arbitrary, the best part though was the Geoff putting Konami on blast and deservedly so, seeing how Konami went out of their way the screw Kojima last year.

Reviews are opinions from the experience the reviewer. Stop feeling offended for negatives highlighted in someone else's experience.
The numbers approach is by far the best way to check reviews. With scores people just look at the number without reading into why it got said score.
