Its not a monopol, there is steam, ms store, EA access, good games etc,and some games requires no storefront at all.
Cost of games should decrease, as the market is much bigger now compared to the 80's. Digital distribution should be even cheaper, as the cost of printing CDs or carts goes away. Companies are making a lot of money as it is, the problem is that the big publishers want growth to please shareholders, so even IF price should go down, it will not. Instead, we get microtransactions to create even more growth.
Good for him 😊
Sony, you better stop this trend or else!
The game looks interesting, I Will buy it even IF People are mixed on it.
It's just lazy from a hardware perspective, the same board (even the disk reader port and eject button still inside) and the same shell, it even has the same size as the slim model. It's basically a scam, and why anyone would pick this over the slim version is beyond me.
Sell some physical games with to small cartridges so the game needs to be downloaded instead of plug and play.
SSD's are still pretty damn expensive, I doubt Sony could have used third party SSD's at a reasonable price. The fact that this technology is in house, and that Sony is in no need to make profit off of the drive itself, makes it pretty big deal. It also creates a unified experience, no one Will be left out of fast loadtimes etc.
Unless ms has done the same, it's going to be very expensive for them to use a third party ssd manufacturer. It could be that they are forced to use standard hdd.
Hipsters and missfits, but on this topic I aqtually agree with them.
I wonder if ms Will try to release The xbox one 2 this christmas, and get a head start. I doubt it Will do much difference, but it would be interesting.
Naughty Dog should do something new, It worked well for guerilla games with Horizon Zero Dawn.
Zeref: What are you talking about, native backwards compatibilty? It's not even bc, you can't play the disk as is, you need an internet connection and download an altered version of the game that then gets emulated. The 360 disk is basically just a "key" to content that is downloaded from MS server. Also, the whole library is not supported, and likely never will be (see original Xbox to xbox 360 bc). Native backwards compatibilty my ass.
I had to call MS customer support to cancel my xbl service back in the early 360 days, no option in the ui. They probably charged me 4-5 times before I noticed the auto renew.
Nice, looks interesting.
Still play Streets of Rage 2 from time to time, this is a day one!
Usually, I'm excited for new consoles, but I'm already tired of hearing about this Stadia thingy.
Bugs?
Ciporta1980, why would you care if Sony bought Take Two then? They don't release most of their games on pc anymore, and Nintendo hardware is too low spec to handel it. So this move would mostly just effect xbox gamers.
The company is under reconstruction, I hope they can pull through and find their feet again.
