Developers are coming out of the woodwork to say they don't agree with this. Even EA had an article about how the online passes hurt them more than helped. And then there have been articles that Microsoft presented this to developers and not the other way around. When Microsoft started getting heat they tried to deflect it by throwing developers under the bus. Glad to see developers backing away from Microsoft because they want no part of the sh-t storm.
Greed. /discussion
It is funny how people forget so quickly the growing pains on the 360. The RROD situation not covered and them trying to cover it up saying it was the typical 3% failure rate. System updates bricking consoles. The whole problem with digital content not being able to be transferred to a new console so you had to remain logged in to live. The disk scratching issue, that even still exists on the newly released 360. It's not been pretty but somehow they weathered it.
Yeah to many Nintendo titles on this list. I'm even a fan of Nintendo franchises, but is Mario Kart that anticipated when 7 was just released on the 3DS. And Mario 3D World just seems like more of the recent 3DS game. Then you have Donkey Kong Country when they again just released the 3DS version of returns. This just feels tired to me.
For me it would be:
1. Destiny
2. Infamous: Second Son
3. Metal Gear Solid V
4. Final Fantasy XV
PS3 cured cancer with folding@home.. next
The portion is a much smaller one than the current model offers. It also gives Microsoft the power to undercut them and eventually phase them out. It also complicates business for them by having all these rules like some games can be traded, some have 30 day windows, some not at all, it's really messy and I'm sure GameStop would much rather go business as usual.
Microsoft declared war on consumers and retailers while trying to benefit themselves and publishers.
It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out, retailers can put the Xbox One in the back of the store while putting huge sections of playstation accessories and games on full display. Employees can help push undecided people to the playstation camp. And customers can chose not to buy it.
On the other hand Microsoft will probably advertise like cr...
That's a lot of free marketing for Sony.
GameStop is a problem, but Xbox One is hardly the answer. In fact since Microsoft is only letting authorized retailers handle reselling of games it actually benefits GameStop in the short term since it eliminates private selling like ebay, amazon, craigslist etc. And this is one of my many problems with the Xbox One.
What Microsoft should do is put up their own electronic storefront within the Xbox ecosystem where people can buy, sell. and trade licenses. It would take a l...
That game sharing thing isn't to bad, however it can and will change at Microsoft's discretion. This is just Microsoft giving you a taste so they can get you hooked.
Just like their gaming ideas.
Explain what that has to do with gaming?
Reasons people jumped to the 360:
-It launched a year earlier
-priced at 299/399
-it had robust network features not seen on a console like achievements and multiplayer
-true hd console
-Xbox Live Arcade games like Geometry Wars and Uno
Reasons people didn't adopt the PS3:
-priced at 499/599 ($200 more than 360 comparable skus)
-sony's arrogance like telling people to get a second job
-multiplats looked w...
Ditch the gamepad and pack in a pro controller, upgrade the specs, leave it backward compat to wii u and wii games, and rename it to the sUperWii. Without the gamepad but improved specs could probably still come in below Sonys price.
Was just about to post this, and aren't we supposed to be getting Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward?
PS4 is already pretty slim, Day 1 for me!
You should probably be looking at Microsoft too. But Nintendo isn't perfect, they fix the prices on their first party games at a high price, where Sony's drop relatively quickly. All companies have a way of getting that money. Then there's Microsoft who wants that money and this money and other money.
Everyone jumping on the Sony bandwagon, and that's a good thing!!
Almost everything shown gameplay wise was a multiplat. Ryse, Dead Rising 3, and Killer Instinct were flub and not system selling by any means.
But no matter what they showed, nothing is worth the policies and funding the arrogant people running the Xbox division.
Microsoft can beat their chest and say they are just going to be like steam all they want. But nobody trusts them and for good reason. You just have to look at how they ran their store on 360. Unlike steam, xbox live arcade games started being 400 points. and near then end they ballooned to some being 1600 points. This is completely opposite to how steam operates. And then if we take a look at Games on Demand, there are games in the bargain bin at retailers for 5$ still sitting at 40$. ...
