From the moment they announced the name I have been completely unimpressed. Add in the arrogance and policies, and I'm downright disgusted. Even if they were able to fix the price point and policies they can't win me back, because deep down I know what they are about.
Of course I've been on to them since 2009 which is when I last paid an annual sub for gold and quit buying multiplats on their system, I'm just glad the mask is off and everyone else see's ...
They do realize that Sony offers digital as well? Right? Sony can match anything they do with the digital side and still offer all the benefits of the legacy business on the physical side. Microsoft has lost the plot!!
I view it as a tax to improve the experience. As long as it doesn't increase in price and the plus product doesn't diminish because it's mandated, I'm more than happy to pay it.
It really is amazing that there are Microsoft fans still backing the Xbox brand when they full well know that their dollars are lining these asshats pockets and supporting their terrible policies.
Yeah, we all know businesses need to make money, but when did that get lumped in with they need to have no compassion for their customers.
It's quite interesting to see how the industry is reacting to this. EA for instance is now making pro consumer press releases. It has been an amazing week, and I think may have a real impact on how the industry conducts itself.
Well there might be a little place in Seattle that doesn't feel that way. :)
So Microsoft says it can be turned off.. but then they say you can't disconnect it.. the same company saying this was just named as the first partner in a program that stomps all over private citizen privacy.. I tend to be a little skeptical, call me crazy.
Sure they're not too sad as they admire their Microsoft money hat.
Yeah this is what worries me. Now that you have to have it they don't need to entice people to buy it any more. I have a bad feeling about it, hope I'm wrong.
I thought it looked alright from a cinematic perspective. But gameplay looked.. uninteresting.
Looking at releases, I don't think they launch in September due to GTAV and early October would mess with Beyond.
The best day looks like it would be October 29th. It would release alongside Battlefield 4 and Assassins Creed 4. Be the first to play next gen versions of those games, seems like a good move.
@dedicatedtogamers: Retailers consider the holiday season to start October 1st.
Watched her VLOG, and she goes on a little long, but she 100% gets it!
I'll snag a Wii U also, but not til it get's a price drop, $350 for it now that the PS4 is $399 seems absurd.
Same here, thanks Best Buy and your $40 deal!!
I believe it was over on GAF GameStop employees saying they have only been allotted 5 Xbox Ones and 20 PS4s per store.
@KingElixir: No doubt, I mean they came in a year later than the 360, against a sizzling Wii, blu ray diode supply issues, a very premature network, the PS2 selling well, and still managed to come in second. And if they continue supporting it, with the Wii numbers basically set where they are at, the PS3 might be able to even overtake it.
Me too, seems like it mixes Halo, Borderlands and Guild Wars 2 into one sweet package. All games I love so they can't miss with this.
What do you like about the system to where you are calling it "great?"
The hardware is weaker than the PS4 offering, so that leaves Kinect and the controller.
Personally I could careless about Kinect, but I have to admit the controller is pretty nice, but a great controller =/= a great system.
Microsoft has been lying for years. Acting like a game company while relying on 3rd parties and milking you with a service that offers nothing more than paywall removal. Offering little to no discounts on it's digital offerings, and selling out to the casual crowd.
But now they show you a couple games you want to commend them for being honest?
I think it's damn sexy, a modernized version of the PS2. It's like Sony is saying "we know PS3 was a mistake, let's pretend this is the true successor."
