You were the one talking about spending "extra money on a gaming rig", so when will you be available to collect the prize?

It's the trend nowadays for jobs which people are incredibly passionate about - they get paid peanuts. Same thing goes for pilots these days, they need a crappy side job to cover the cost of living.

They've really wanted to set this up as the anti-MW2 since ever since the dedicated servers debacle broke. I might just cave even though I never really liked the Battlefield series, if for nothing else than to send a message.

Then again, there's really nothing outlandishly new here for PC gamers. It's just that MW2 was such a big game that by itself it made a huge splash when it defied the consensus.

Extra graphical features, increased field of view and definitely un...

GTA4 had incredible attention to detail, but did anyone really care anywhere near enough to justify the budget? Did anyone visit even half the huge city that they built from scratch? Did anyone really care that the traffic density was modeled just right?

Sure, initially it blew everyone away, but once you get over the "oh wow this is so real", did anyone really care? As far as the storyline goes, they could easily have done it with scripted, linear mission sequences, wi...

Agreed, from what I've heard mouse lag is a myth nowadays.

It's the same thing with everyone saying that you need to charge rechargeable battery devices to full when you first get them, that doesn't apply any more with lithium ion, but people still believe it.

You guys do all realize your chances of being selected for the beta are infinitesimally small right?

Interest rate differentials are already factored into the nominal exchange rate.

Wait a second, you're proving that AUS games are not overpriced, by factoring them into your calculations of a real exchange rate and then saying "hah, look at how large the exchange rate is!" Do you not realise you've proven nothing other than you can multiply here? Also even if you were saying something of value, you should be doing:

50/0.76 = 65.79 not, 50 + 50*0.76 = 88

Neither. I've got an E7200 and load times were like 5-8 seconds max.

Bought it, you should too.

Yep, it would be a credible argument if ATi were behind otherwise, and they're not.

NVIDIA said the same thing about DX 10.1, and yes very few games even used it, and they were correct but it obscures the actual point that until Fermi comes out NVIDIA are obviously going to be lagging behind. Even then, that could prove a colossal failure.

Yep and development budgets will be astronomical reducing the number of games we get, they'll be dumbed down for the common masses and on the whole we'll get generic FPSs lacking any risky innovation.

5909d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

No of course not. Gaming is just an easy target to impose their supposed moral superiority on.

I agree that JRPGs have stayed stagnant in a lot of ways, but western RPGs have regressed.

The focus has been taken away from the story and plot development to figuring out how to integrate real time combat, FPS elements into it or otherwise how to mash unnecessary extra genres into the mix. Look at Fallout 3. When you see most people playing it and using VATS every fight, what exactly is the point of the real time FPS element anyway? At the same time the game clearly suffered ...

Portal sequel was revealed accidentally in an interview, so expect it with HL2:EP3.

The reason why they're doing it simple.

If you ask most people, especially a couple of years ago they'd say that they don't play video games and if they do, it's the single player. Even now it's true.

The fact is most good MP games require time to get good at, and your average casual gamer who just finished the SP on easy, saved the world and feels like he is top sh1t doesn't like being owned by someone who's played FPSs for several years before he even knew they exi...

Everyone on the net seems to believe that having an R18+ rating would mean games like Fallout 3 and L4D2 would not get edits, but they're most likely wrong.

If we do get such a rating, it will likely be only able to be sold in Adult Only shops as is the case in the US, or otherwise will still mean a huge drop in revenue because it would be restricting a significant demographic.

Remember how swearing and blood was cut from Die Hard 4? Studios or in this case game dist...

The thing that annoys me about the whole Battlefield series in particular is it looks like you spend a significant amount of time just running around either trying to find someone or moving to objectives. I know that you kind of need that open room for vehicles to work, but it's just never made the whole series that enticing for me.

I've always preferred the more tightly knit feel of CS or MW1 because it just puts you in the action much quicker without wasting any time at all. ...
