That's funny. I don't believe for a second that Sony or Nintendo are even trying to kill PC gaming. Not to mention that Sony makes some higher-end PC's, so they directly profit from people playing PC games through hardware sales. And Microsoft has Games for Windows. They've embraced both PC and console gaming.
PC gaming is a completely different demographic from console gaming. This article fails.
I had my PSP before I had my PS3.
Maybe I'm missing something. What's happening?
I don't think they're making $18.5 million on every 50,000 to 100,000 PS3's sold.
Such a poorly written description. Sad.
There are four PSN accounts on my PS3 alone.
There are some really great LBP levels out there. I realize that the game is relatively new and most of the levels are still works in progress. But man, there are a lot of bad levels out there. I relish the rare gems that I find and I hope that people will get better at it over time.
I hope it doesn't brick my 360 like last year's fall update did. That's what I'm most concerned about.
I doubt it's an HD-DVD fan posting this stuff. I doubt there are many fans of unsupported, dead technology. This was likely just an attempt to raise the ire of fanboys, and I'm pretty sure that it's going to work.
@kapedkrusader
That's exactly what it means. Someone's going to get their feelings hurt over this article and go out and find the best Blu-ray news ever to post.
You just wait for *insert movie here* to come out. Then everyone in the world will throw out their existing televisions and dvd players and upgrade to the latest in home theater technology. Because all it takes is the right movie.
True hardcore gamers can game WITHOUT consoles. They just will their games into existence.
I'm winning, of course. I get to play any games that I want to.
I've never been a Metal Gear Solid fan, and it was no surprise that I didn't care for MGS4. I'm not a fan of shooters like Halo or Resistance, either. Give me sandbox games like GTA4 and Assassin's Creed and I'm happiest. I'm also sucker for a good arcade racer like Burnout, but you can keep racing sims. They bore me to tears.
Seventeen games. Hopefully the list grows soon.
I don't see why people get so bent out of shape over this stuff. What does it matter if you have to activate software the first time you use it? After all, you're only buying the right to use the software, not the software itself. So if the licensor will only grant the license if you activate it then you have the choice to either activate it or not play it.
I doubt if it matters, though. Someone's going to figure out how to crack it.
Activation is DRM.
I don't disagree. I'm wasn't even going to try to get into the right or wrong of it. People who pirate games are the lowest of the low, in my opinion. And I don't have a problem with companies trying to stop it. I'm a fan of DRM (in most cases) and I generally laugh every time Microsoft goes on a banning spree to keep the modders out of Xbox Live.
That wouldn't necessarily be my top 5 list.
There are many false assumptions around piracy that developers and manufacturers make. The biggest thing is that they assume that if it were impossible to pirate games that the people pirating them would buy them instead. That's just not true. Some might, but people don't usually pirate because they can't afford games. They pirate because they can.
I don't know how I feel about these comments in the article. Any other time of the year high quality games are few and far between since major releases are typically saved for the more lucrative holiday season. So it's easy to do well then. It's only my opinion, but the real test of quality is if a game can do well this time of year.
It's not easy to stand out with all of the competition in the market looking for holiday sales, so only the games that are really special shine in Q...
