Sure there has to be overlay between gamers that already own a PS4, Xbox or PC but at the rate that Switch is selling it has to be appealing to more than just that audience, I don't have any numbers to show but I would bet that many Switch owners are 3DS owners.
Nintendo needed a win but I wonder how much of this has to do with the portability aspect of the Switch? Nintendo seems to be tapping into a different market than the PS4 or Xbox. Which is odd because most analyst would have you believe that phones have taken that space so the Switch's success contradicts that assumption.
IMO Horizon is much more impressive and has way more stuff going on from huge enemies to dynamic weather, everyone is entitled to their opinion but Horizon is by far way more ambitious than AC: Origins for that reason alone Horizon wins.
It's a Ubisoft game it's very much formulatic it's not bad they have changed a few things most notably the combat system. It feels a bit more RPG esque IMO it's a good game but there are better options if you want to sink a ton of time into a game. The story is not engaging IMO it's very fragmented I find myself not caring I'm more interested in upgrading my armor and weapons than following the main storyline there are a lot of fetch quests and busy work. The setting i...
What your saying is so much BS the problem isn't the rise in cost in development it's over saturation of bad games, that are then expected to make huge profits. If a game like Stardew Valley developed by one guy can make a ton of profit then it's clear that the problem isn't production or development cost the real problem is over produced bad games with big budgets. Good games make money but greedy publishers don't want to gamble and that is why you see the implementation ...
The ship may not be sinking yet but it has taken a hell of a lot of water MS needs a reason for non xbox fans to buy their console and better pixels on games that can played elsewhere will only appeal to a very specific crowd.
Nintendo isn't really in direct competition with Sony tho I suspect that there has been a lot of cross over of 3DS gamers that have come over. The thing Nintendo did was combine their mobile market along their home console market which appears to have worked at least for now. When it comes to power the Switch is under whelming yet it is still outselling the X. How do you explain this? Unless the reason is that many Switch fans are putting a premium on gaming on the go which why I say that...
Good for you but you are the minority which some of you still don't get, on top of that you act like power was the reason MS was going to turn it around. MS lost a lot of ground to Sony in terms of market share since last gen people always say they don't care about sales and that's fine whatever but sales ultimately decide how much and how long a system will be supported.
It is odd that Sony would have to react to MS based on the X when the Switch which is far less powerful is outselling the X that should factor in. MS is losing because they have made too many mistakes and a lot of people have jumped ship. MS lost a lot of market share because of the decisions they have made plain and simple.
@wobblypops46
That's why plebs that support MS aren't getting any new Ip's enjoy the extra pixels on games that can be played on every other platform including PC which by the way can outperform the x.
LOL. Some people take other people's opinion way too seriously IMO Zelda is overrated I never said it was a bad game I said overrated. I may be in the minority but that doesn't make my opinion or the criticism based on my experience any less valid. No voice acting? No story? tedious game mechanics with breaking weapons? Other people enamored with the game can over look these flaws all they want it doesn't mean they don't exist.
Horizon is totally underrated and Zelda is highly overrated, IMO the best RPG to date has been the Witcher 3 because it was so ambitious despite having flaws mainly the combat system it tries and succeeds in emersing you in it's fantasy world if you let it. Even tho Zelda gives you the freedom of exploration it lacks in character development, story cohesion hell no voice acting really? Nintendo games have gotten a pass for a very longtime that if other games tried to do would be criticize...
Broad appeal? A game doesn't need to be sold to an entire fanbase to be considered a success. Horizon a new Ip sold very well, Ghost of Tsushima has an interesting back drop that hasn't been explored lately so that alone will make it stand out. What's their definition of success because from where I stand this game looks at the very least interesting which has put it in my radar for the future.
IMO swatting that ends with a death should be manslaughter for the person who instigated the situation. They where both wrong, as far as law enforcement being trigger happy the officer involved should be investigated to determine if he needs to be removed for excess of force.
@LordJamar
Did everyone that owns an xbox buy Halo? No they didn't stop this nonsense a game doesn't need to sell to the whole user base to be successful. Zelda and Mario don't even do that and they are iconic franchises and by every measurement they where successful. Horizon is a new Ip and sold well, Persona 5 was a pretty niche game and sold well, Nioh sold well too just because they don't do GTA or COD numbers doesn't mean they aren't successful....
How it's meant to be played? Yet the x still uses checkerboard rendering? Just stop does the X out perform the Pro yes but the PC will always outperform consoles so your argument about performance is laughable. Enjoy the x but Sony still has more games than MS that's a fact not an opinion.
What? Mario 64 was revolutionary and while Banjo Kazooie may have improved the genre, Mario 64 kicked off the 3D gaming which changed gaming to this day. Pretty much every open world game was influenced by Mario 64 the same cannot be said for Banjo Kazooie.
I'm not even going to bother clicking.
LOL. This is not the game you would want to say that about barely getting 30 fps and it used to dip into single digits yeah that's bad no matter how you look at it.
