I think Sony is confident they have a hit on their hands but I won't be surprise when we get the invetiable low scores from those that say they changed the game mechanics too much. I will be continuing my media black out of the game until I get my hands on the game and play it myself.
Umm I don't know polygon does like to get on a moral high ground when it suits them, IMO you can enjoy a game without liking the story plenty of games I have played fall in this category the most recent for me has been Watch Dogs 2, really didn't even follow the story in fact I heard podcast while playing the game instead. To each their own I know the Far Cry series has never been know for their awsome story telling just throwing that out there.
This is how f up the gaming community is the same people defending SoT are the same people that where trashing No Man's Sky. Enjoy whatever game you want but the criticism over SoT is legit you can polish a turd all you want but it's still a turd.

You don't need to play an entire game to understand the game mechanics or what the game developers intention was in order to review a game. The game is tedious you can have fun with games like these but it really shows the lack of depth in the developers part if you are forcing the player to have to make his own fun. They are leaders among the industry in terms of pushing the limits of the medium that is why IMO he states they are the standard. You don't have to like ND games to understand that they are in fact pushing the medium forward wether it is through story telling, graphical immersion, or technical progression. I would put Rockstar, CD project red in that same category but he isn't wrong only a hand full of studios are doing that.
This is what happens when you overly hype a game, it's understandable why MS felt the need to do that since they have very few exclusive but damn watch Crackdown be a huge let down as well, MS this isn't helping your cause get it together and deliver some good games.
Who takes IGN reviews seriously? They are a joke and have been very inconsistent when reviewing games, they seriously deducted points for lack of character development and challenge? Mario has been the same Mario for decades, Zelda is mute that doesn't talk but ok IGN you have a different scoring scale for those games right.
I'm not surprised the game has not been shown a whole lot, aside from being post apocalyptic survival horror not much is known about the world. We know there are freakers, we know you ride a bike but we don't know what happened to the world and why these creatures are roaming around. I was looking forward to this game because Sony Bend is awesome and make good games.

Who cares this isn't new how is this different from athletes promoting Madden, NBA2K or FIFA? I don't buy games because a celebrity is endorsing it or trying to promote their own projects. I agree publishers would be better served spending that money towards in game assets but what do I know.

MS doesn't have enough good games to make it worth it, if Sony or Nintendo did this it would have major implications because they actually have the games to entice consumers sadly MS does not.
Patcher is a terrible game analyst and gamingbolt is a clickbait machine, MS is doing this because they are seeing less returns in their investment so more people paying 10 dollars a month is better to them than fewer people buying their games at full price. Make no mistake sales will go down and subscriptions will go up that is just common sense so far most of MS moves have been bad we will see how this turns out.
They over hyped crackdown 3 and it will be a huge letdown, state of decay 2 we know what that game is all about PUBG is not even their game. That leaves sea of thieves as the only new Ip and that is precisely the problem they have very little creativity coming from MS studios.
You people sound like broken records Sony doesn't want cross play with MS for the same reason MS didn't want cross play last gen. I personally don't care about this one way or another but it does seem to me that the loudest people crying about this are MS fanboys.
