Nobody cared that much is my point, yes some small independent developers care because it meant their games would have a better shot of being successful but many and many more publishers didn't care because they rather you buy multiple copies of the same game. So a small minority bitched and moaned until Sony said fine whatever let's see how many publishers actually want this as it turns out not many so that leaves you fanboys crying over nothing.
Don't care who wins GOTY all I know is which game I had the most fun playing this year and that game has been God of War. They will both win many awards but IMO RDR2 isn't the clear cut winner at least not to me they aren't, I love Rockstar games but RDR2 had too many annoyances IMO to be GOTY.

RDR2 will win a lot of awards but God of War is my personal GOTY I really don't care who wins it at all, all I know is which game has been the most enjoyable for me to play this year. I just hope Sony Santa Monica get's recognized because they deserve it.
You are not alone with how you feel about certain aspects of the game.
1. The chores serve no real purpose other than it increases you good karma.
2. Hunting is a chore not very fun with little payoff I am half way through the story and I have yet to see what the value
of going to all that effort is, I could have played to whole main missions without it.

This article is pure BS this is why many gamers don't trust game reviewers or games media in general IMO they are too cozy with publishers to remain objective and critical. God of War is my GOTY RDR2 has pushed back to much for me to say that I have enjoyed it without complaints, both are great games the difference is I got lost in God of War and RDR2 has had more than a few things that have annoyed me yanking me out of the immersion and reminding me that it's a game too many times.
Yeah I don't trust reviews anymore specially ones that are for big titles coming from EA and Activision. They always tend to get suspiciously high scores only to find out they are riddled with MT's.
What did people expect? It's a multi plat from Rockstar not surprising we will see if it has legs but that is pretty impressive.

It's funny that people can easily rebuttal your argument of VR being a bunch of tech demos, sure there are a lot of those but some games are legit VR game experiences. However "YOU" may feel about VR there is a community of dedicated gamers that have bought in and all Sony has to do is keep supporting PSVR with games. Eventually there will be a killer app that will make VR a must by for any gamer not just those core gamers that already enjoy VR.
The same reason some people get but hurt when you actually use statistics and verifiable data to make a point instead of emotions because their console of choice is lacking in many areas.
Yeah that was before games like MGS5 and HZD came out, the game is clunky no way around it, it plays like the Witcher 3 and that game came out 3 years ago. I have been able move past the sluggish controls but man you can't deny that sometimes the character moves like he's walking on quick sand.
I have no problem criticizing any game some people are just being super defensive about anyone having a less than positive opinion about RDR2 for some reason. I mean Spiderman was great but the boss fights could have been better, and the side quest could have been more meaningful so it's not like it was perfect, God of War IMO is my GOTY it did everything right IMO so not much to complain about maybe lack of DLC. The more I play the game the more annoyed I get, I don't know how this game got so many perfect scores from many reviewers. The game doesn't respect the gamers time, just today I did several side mission all was cool until by no fault of my own other than getting ambushed by raiders my horse was killed. Yes a horse I went out of my way to find track, feed, and care for only for this BS to happen. Now I either replay all those missions or continue without said horse what total BS. Now ...

If you think Spider is boring that's fine but going by numbers you are the minority the fact is that Spiderman controls beautifully is one of the major attractions, because you actually feel like you are swinging that adds to the immersion. I agree there are elements of the game that are cumbersome and annoying just got to act 4 it does pick up a bit but I can understand how some people could say it is boring. I'm enjoying it and have even gotten used to the sluggish controls, RDR2 is a good game but it's not perfect as some of the reviews would suggest.

Right we are conveniently going to forget that Sony has had BC with all their consoles with the exception of the PS4. Funny how that kind of same expectation isn't put on Nintendo they can't even be bothered to give you a legit digital store after all why would they since people keep buy the same games over and over.
