Yeah, I'm not really getting the whole 'convenience' factor of AA batteries vs. and internal rechargeable. To me, having to replace AA batteries every once in a while is a lot more inconvenient than just plugging the controller in to charge when I'm done playing, or using a long USB cable for those rare times when I forgot to charge it.
I mean, people live and die by their smartphones these days and NONE of those have replaceable batteries. Everyone is just i...
It's a larger light"bar" instead of just a small indicator light because it was/is intended to be tracked by the PS4 camera like the ball on the Move controllers.
As many other have suggested, if there is no camera attached to your PS4 and/or the game doesn't use motion tracking then the light should be off by default to save (admittedly a small amount) of battery life. The games that use the camera/motion control should just turn on the light when needed. ...
I thought I read that the issue with the analog stick's rubber coating coming off was a bad batch of units from the initial launch production run and that Sony has since corrected it. (?) Wasn't it mostly the packed-in controller that comes with the PS4, not individual retail units?
Anyway, I don't see why they wouldn't try to put in a higher mAh rated battery in newer models if it doesn't increase their manufacturing costs. I think the current battery is...

Red Dead Rebooted
(get it, "boot"ed, as in cowboy boo....I'll just let myself out.)
I think Sony has several opportunities to improve PS4's performance, and so does MS with the Xone:
1) Both can and will tweak the OS to optimize the performance and potentially "give back" memory to game devs that is currently allocated to the OS.
2) Both will add features to the OS in terms of UI improvements, more functionality, etc.
3) And I think Sony* also has an ace up their sleeve and will bump the clockrate sometime next...
cgoodno and others: The "proper" use of ecosystem, as it relates to the suppliers, software, support, and marketing of an electronic device, does not require a biological element. People buy a Kindle over a Nook or Kobo e-reader because they prefer the Amazon ecosystem (book selection, ability to lend ebooks to friends, etc) vs. the other ereader vendors.
Same holds true for the term "virus". It has both a tradition biological context and a computer securi...

I agree with you on principle that US Net Neutrality should be upheld, but I'm not sure the power company analogy is the best example. The power company DOES limit what goes to your house via the service panel rating (100Amp, 200Amp, etc) so you can't just use whatever amount of electricity you want. Also, you are charged per watt of electricity you use, unlike most ISPs that have a flat per-month rate.
^^ Delusional.
Yeah "Stay tuned for GDC"
Where we will explain how great DX12 will be for PC game developers. XBoxOne...meh...not so much. But by all means stay tuned for GDC.
I heard it's going to be called:
Wii Apologize
(hehe I kid, I kid...)
elda- Wow. Let me try this again, only slower so you can follow. "Gigs" aren't being "taken" from the hard drive when you boot it up. The hard drive still has the raw capacity of 500Gb but some of that capacity is necessarily used by the formatting process and the OS install (both done during the PS4 manufacturing process) Thus, the available space on the drive is less than 500Gb.
This is the exact same situation for any electronic storage device, be i...
Elda - since you work in retail, how many customers come up to you to complain that the $29.99 item they want to purchase will actually cost them $32.08 after tax?
But it's ADVERTISED at $29.99!! That's misleading!!
Most of you folks complaining about having less than 500Gb of available free space on drive advertised as 500Gb have absolutely no clue how hard drives (or even flash memory) work, do you?
The formatting process writes block/sector maps on the media, marks bad sectors as not usable, and reserves some free blocks to use for things like de-fragmenting, spares for a bad block that might occur during use, etc. etc. And that's all before an OS gets laid on top of it. So "...
Playstation Retro
But those positive early impressions are based off of pre-rendered video and/or "actual gameplay" on high-end PC's behind the curtains. As far as I know no one has seen TF running on the XOne.
As many others have stated, the fact that this isn't really a XOne console exclusive means it may not move that much hardware if it runs reasonable well on a 360 or folks already have a mid-range PC.
Joke SONY ou ? (see what I did there?) Just admiring the irony in your screen name. :-)
All DS4 controllers are still under 1-year Sony warranty. So if your left stick is showing "unusual" wear and tear 6 months in, just send it back to Sony for a replacement.
I'm pretty sure this was a bad batch of launch controllers and that Sony has since (quietly) corrected the problem, but anyone with a controller experiencing this problem can get a free replacement.
