As others have pointed out, it's not the size of the brick, but the fact that as large as the X1 physically is, they STILL needed an external power brick. Just goes to the hardware engineering prowess of each company. Sony knows how to design compact, efficient consumer electronics. Microsoft, not so much.
I assume most of you here weren't kids in the late '70s, but the competition between Asteroids and Space Invaders coin-ops could be considered the original "console war".
So, yeah, it's been going on since the very beginning.
Edit: I do agree to some extent with the OP that ever since the 360/ps3 era the hatred and vitriol between plastic-box-owner-A and plastic-box-owner-B has gotten really bad.
@n4rc
"2 years later and people still think used games were an issue.. "
MS's used game policy WAS an issue during their reveal and pre-launch E3 presentation. Even though the X1 was ultimately released without that restriction, it was a huge blow to MS's credibility and really pissed off a lot of Xbox fans who jumped ship to PS4.
@Divine
Lighten up, Francis. It was a joke.
Edit: And I think I missed _your_ joke. (wipes egg from face) O_O
@jony_dols
Same here. I really enjoyed it - fantastic visuals and interesting story, but I can see how some gamers felt it was too linear and too short. Definitely deserves a sequel.
3:05 100% more beard in PS4 edition!
@beans. I agree we should look to CD3 to see just how well cloud compute works for Xbox owners in the real world. Not to be a d*ck, but saying "MS built X1 for cloud compute" is just marketing b.s. It wasn't "built" for cloud compute any more than a PC, PS4, or WiiU was built for cloud compute.
If you think about it logically, if MS really did build the X1 for cloud compute then the built it and started selling it 3 years too early ;-)
Not likely. In fact, not only will Titanfall 2 be mutliplat, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony's E3 'mic drop' is that they scored exclusive marketing rights :-)
Yes they could. There is nothing magical about "cloud" computing that makes it specific to the Xbox. MS has their Azure cloud services and that all well and good, but there's no reason Amazon Web Services or another cloud computing platform couldn't be used for PS4, PC, or even Nintendo.
And just to be clear, there is NO WAY cloud compute is off-loading tasks from the Xbox GPU. The latency of even the fastest Internet connection on Earth is orders of magnit...
Still-in-development game has some bugs?
In other news: water is wet
^^
This
ND gave us Uncharted 2, 3, and The Last of Us with just 512Mb or RAM on the ps3.
The PS4 has *sixteen times* more RAM. I don't think memory is going to be a limiting factor this gen.
Consider this: An Xbox gamer in California gets access to the beta a whole SEVEN hours earlier than a PS4 or PC gamer in Japan.
Yes. Kylo Ren stabs him with a lightsaber.
Hehe. Orgasmo.
Also, Scully and Mulder ;-)
You're trying waaay too hard, kid. That was a 5.5 - 6.0 tops on the Troll Scale.
That was certainly NOT the case with Rocket League. Free for a month on PSN (and tons of people downloaded it and played it) then after it became a purchase-only game the positive word of mouth had people buying it up in droves.
"Halo is the Star Wars [prequel trilogy] of video games."
Fixed.
(Oh dayum, yes I did! :-))
@BarneyS
"The Xbone gets criticized for running games at 900p"
Incorrect. The Xbone gets criticized for running _the same games_ at 900p that PS4 runs at 1080p
The fact that UC4 multiplayer drops to 900p to hit 60fps has nothing to do with your implied "unfairness" at how your favorite hunk of plastic and circuits is judged by people who have a different favorite hunk of plastic and circuits.
XBL...uses his one single bubble to troll a PS4 article.
I think a slim (or "slimmer") PS4 would be worthwhile if it meant significant manufacturing and supply chain/shipping cost reductions for Sony, resulting in a lower MSRP. Also, would be nice if a slim design could actually give the internal hard drive bay a few extra mm of height to accommodate the newer, larger capacity 15mm high HHDs. A SATA III interface would be a nice addition too ;-)
