Kinect, ps3, 360 are all sold to retailers at a price VERY close to the retail price. This is why you almost never see any retailer having a sale for $50 off on 360, unless they get something in return from microsoft, or they bundle it with something they can take a hit on(like tvs)
That being said, Microsoft made nowhere near $150 million. The cost of the parts of Kinect is $56, which may not seem like much, but when you factor in labor, and the cost of the software, it ends...
It helps to actually read the review instead of solely looking at scores.
Review scores ALWAYS include the reviewers own bias. 9.7 to someone might be a 9 for someone else. On the other hand, the actual review gives insight on what the games strong and weak points.
Alpha is correct in saying fanboys will call a review biased just by looking at the review score. If you actually read the review, you can call the reviewer a fanboy by the way he writes, not if y...
The popularity of shooters in different regions is as follows: NA>Western Europe>Eastern Europe>Rest of the World
Considering the fact that a majority of the 360's install base is concentrated in NA, only 4 time zones apart, and the majority loves shooters, its no surprise the 360 can reach numbers like that.
Personally, I think Kinect is pretty cool, but its following in the wii's footsteps. Its going to have a great first impression on you, but after 1 week, its going to be sitting by the tv, collecting dust. Maybe the occasional xbox play, xbox pause when im too lazy to reach for the remote right next to me, but most of the time off.
I've made a mistake with the wii, im not going to repeat it with Kinect. $150 is just way too much to pay for something I'm only going...
Actually WP7 will be on most carriers, AT&T and T-Mobile first(later this year), Sprint and Verizon early next year.
Great Gameplay helps me love a game.
Great Graphics helps me appreciate it even more.
thats part of the reason, but it DOES have to do with HDMI also. The 360's hdmi(v1.2) has a different video standard compared to hdmi 1.3 and above.
I agree and disagree with that. The story was much better in reach, but it was just kill these waves of enemies, cut scene, kill next wave of enemies, move on, kill another wave of enemies, space battles(not as great as i thought they would be). At least there was some variety in MW2.
But who buys reach for its single player? Multiplayer is where its at, and it greatly exceeds the noob fest that is MW2.
maybe single player might be just another shooter, but reach's multiplayer does EVERYTHING you can think of in multiplayer while being fun at the same time.
Not many games can match the multiplayer features of reach.
Im pretty sure there will be a PSP2 that is completely separate from the Sony Ericsson PlayStation branded phone.
Personally, I really don't find phone capabilities necessary. It adds bulk, ties you to carriers and becomes expensive. But I'm ok if there is a psp phone and a separate PSP2 meant to be pure gaming and media. I just don't prefer it combined.
assuming halo reach will sell a bit higher than halo 3, I'll give it say 13-14 million in lifetime sales
black ops will sell similarly to(but not significantly higher than) mw2, I'll give it 13m 360 and 10m ps3 lifetime
assuming gt5 is the biggest gt yet, it will sell a little more than gt3, so 14-15m lifetime.
I think its safe to say gt5, black ops, and reach are the biggest titles of this year. Fastest selling? black ops. Longest la...
Actually its the french translation of "GB"
The next psp is not going to be a phone.
However, Sony Ericsson will release a phone with powerful graphics and Android gingerbread with a dedicated games market for it.
Just because they're out for profit doesn't mean they are greedy. For example, some online retailers are just absolutely amazing.
They ship in just one day, they have the lowest prices, and they manage to keep customers happy with first class products, all while still making a respectable profit.
But online retailers =/= gaming industry. In this industry, margins are very high, and making big profits isn't the easiest thing to do. If you're no...
I'm guessing a few cents. it won't take long until the software on that is posted online, and we can make our own bootable flash drives.
$150 could buy games that would keep me satisfied for longer than the time it would take for this to get patched.
im just surprised that no one has ripped the software from the usb and posted it online yet.
"What the hell happened?"
COD4 was a good game, but it had its fair share of flaws. lag deaths, noob hosts who left in the middle of the game, all the network problems, THE WORST respawn system in the entire gaming industry.
I was so excited for MW2, as I thought that they would fix all of these problems. You would think after selling more than 10 million copies of COD4, IW could at least afford to offer dedicated servers for MW2, but no. All the la...
Well, once you think about it, PC gaming isn't really more expensive than consoles. Since people with consoles spend on average $500-700 on a pc, and then buy a $300 console + xbl. You can get something decent for $1000 that matches the performances of consoles.
But I do agree console gaming is much simpler, and exclusives are hard to live without. Most games run well, and there's no stupid DRM(AC2 on PC.. nuff said), and connecting with friends is easier, since most ...
.
At 9mbps, its a bit slow by current standards, but what do you expect. Its 4 year old technology. Atleast Sony put in the fastest, cheapest drive available at the time of the ps3's release, but it would have been nice to see the new slim updated with a faster drive.
