They were the OG studio who took CoD to proper futuristic setting in Advanced Warfare (ignoring the near-futuristic settings in BO2 and Ghost).
The futuristic trend peaked with Infinite Warfare with Inifnity Ward taking CoD literally to space. It got the infamous flak during reveal coz it was the third consecutive CoD to be set in space but after release it's campaign was found to be the best out of the three future CoDs i.e AW, BOIII and IW.
Now Infinity Ward is stickin...
