With Mario Kart 8, if you're versing a bot the name of that bot comes up as just "player". It's definitely not deceptive, and you're usually versing people as well as one or two bots to fill it in a bit.
Nintendo needs third party a lot less than other consoles manufacturers, but they still need some.
For example, can you imagine the PS4 or Xbox One without third party?
I'm not sure what it means for the Zelda series, but I know what it means for the consumer! More fun! :D

Any fully optimised game on the Wii U can get close to the PS4, it doesn't mean they're not taking advantage of the PS4, simply that they ARE taking advantage of the Wii U, unlike many developers.
Some friends and I had some fun messing around in the terrible Red Steel multiplayer, it wasn't co-op, but it was fun because it sucked.
