They're in there with their bear. There, I said it.

Let's see... where to start.
1. Set in San Andreas. No special reason, I'm just a sucker for big maps (why I liked Just Cause 2 so much: 414 sq mi).
2. Better weapon selection, including non-lethal weapons.
3. Ability to play songs from the system hard drive.
4. Bring back the airplanes, and the parachute. So much easier to get around.
5. An add-on like Undead Nightmare. GTA with zombies.

You failed to point out that it's a TIMED exclusive. First Strike will be on PS3 a month after it hits 360.

And the article called it a coup...a COUP... 360 has been getting CoD DLC first for ages, so how is this something that they just snatched from Sony at the last minute?

"If playing video games is your favorite thing to do and you spend most of your time playing them, then... that makes you a real gamer."

Truer words were never spoken.

This is a very well done list. I like how it was broken down by console. My only gripe is a few games on multiple lists. Probably would have been better if there were a separate list for multiplats. Then we could have seen the top 5 exclusives for each console, instead of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (great game, BTW) and Red Dead Redemption (also very good, not my favorite) on multiple lists.

I think it should be noted.... starting in 1985.
8-bit gen: NES, Atari 7800, Sega Master system.
16-bit gen: SNES, Sega Genesis, NEC TurboGrafx 16, SNK NeoGeo
3rd gen: Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Sony Playstation.
4th Gen: Nintendo Gamecube, Sega Dreamcast, Sony PS2, Microsoft XBox
Current Gen: Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony Playstation 3.

Note the common thread that runs through ALL of the past five generations of consoles. It...

How much plot does a game need? The ABSOLUTE minimum required to justify the gameplay. Metal Gear Solid 1-4 needed more story than the CoD or Gran Turismo games, but probably not as much as it had (though it WAS a very good story, particularly how MGS4 tied it all together).

I can agree with the "less is more," particularly in FPS and racing games. In FPS games a general "This is your mission objective" will be enough for FPS games... repeat as often as y...

@Focker420
I haven't seen Nathan Fillion do any real action oriented movies or tv. One episode of Lost, a bit part in Saving Private Ryan (he was the wrong Ryan) a few episodes of Buffy, and Firefly. He is a good actor, but probably not right for such an action intensive role as Nathan Drake. But now the question is.... Who? Wahlberg might be able to pull it off with the right direc-....oooooh, I have it!

Josh Duhamel.... he was the..... ranger? In Transformers. ...

These people stumping for Mark Wahlberg are probably the same sort of people who would have cast The Rock to play Frodo Baggins.

Or...

"We have to make this movie with Jet Li!" And bammo! Jet Li is the new Jason Voorhees.

Leave the studio suits out of the decision making process. Find a hardcore uncharted fan to direct, and it should turn out alright. As long as it's not Boll or Anderson.

It's not 1977 anymore. Harrison Ford has played the President of the US. He's too old to play Drake.

This guy's disdain for Android could be the reason Angry Birds is such crap on my Samsung Moment.

A gaming story from MSNBC. A GOOD gaming story from MSNBC. I approve this story almost for that reason alone. Gaming needs more MSM coverage. And, what's more, it's an article about how to challenge people's preconceived notions about gaming.

Good point. The "face of video games" should probably be something other than a game where the player character is a pro felon. I'll also agree that GTA is an excellent franchise. I haven't played Mafia II so I can't comment on how it is.

Bubbles for an intelligent comment, and because you should have more than just one.

Crap. How did I do that? Good eye.

4. More women playing the games I mentioned in #1. And more Characters like Lightning, Madison Page, Claire Redfield, and various other women bada$$es.

How can games be taken more seriously....?
1. More games like Metal Gear Solid, Heavy Rain, and other AAA titles with some intelligence to them. Fewer games with no real objective beyond shooting your friends in the face. More open ended, open world games with either multiple mission objectives or multiple means of reaching objectives.
2. More actual gamers working in Mainstream media. Get some core gamers working for Time, Newsweek, USA Today,CNN, and the major networks. W...

Dude! Doctor Who would be awesome. As long as the dev staff are Doctor junkies. Can't have someone doing to The Doctor what Jerry Bruckheimer did to Batman, or Drew Carey did to Whose Line is it Anyway.

My fault. I should have been more specific: MGS: Rising. It's all about what happened to Raiden, how he went from being a whiny little boy in MGS2 to being the bada$$ cyborg ninja in MGS4.

Road Rash and MegaMan would be really nice. Games I'd like to see announced have already been: InFamous 2, Prototype 2, LBP2 and MGS5. Or they're inevitable (Assassin's Creed 3, the next GTA). I would like to add, however, a Lego LOTR. After Indiana Jones and Star Wars, a Lego Lord of The Rings would probably be loads of fun. Or a Lego Matrix trilogy.

"Still... both have done a great job"
"It's not about who wins or loses"

I'll agree with the first statement. And add that Nintendo did a great job as well.
As for the second.... I'll agree with it as far as this whole console "war" not being about who wins between Sony, MS, and Nintendo. It's about you, and me, and all of us who play the games.

Gamers win. Whether you're blasting aliens on...

Discworld, Lego LOTR, Robin Hood, and that last Zombie game were good ideas (might even call the zombie game Patient Zero). I would add to that: a tactical espionage spin-off of MAG (third person not first) with the player as a spy for one of the three PMCs Metal Gear Solid style, set within the same MAG universe as the FPS.

I got my PS3 in June '08. Earlier this month I sent it to the Repair Center for the very first time. I got it back in 15 days total, including FedEx ground shipping. I've been a Sony gamer for 15 years. My recent experience guaranteed that I'll be a Sony gamer for a good 15 more. So, yes, I think you made the right move.
