They're in there with their bear. There, I said it.

Any improvement these new consoles could make would be almost entirely in graphics. The PS3 has 12 buttons and two sticks, the 360 controller is about the same. From an ergonomic perspective, this is the best anyone can do. So I doubt the next generation of controllers will change very much. MS and Sony will have to squeeze more options into the same controllers we're all using now, which might actually happen, but won't be much. Just a few examples: what was added control-wise when M...

I remember playing Street Fighter 2 in the arcade.... doing fairly well, not always winnning but not always losing either, then a 10 year old asian kid comes along and squashes me like a bug.

If sucking at fighting games is an art, and you, sir, are Vincent Van Gogh, then I am Leonardo DaVinci. I'm fairly certain that, even as bad as you claim to be, you could beat me, but you might look pretty ragged when the fight was over.

It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

Comments like this make the agree/disagree system problematic for me. I want to do both.

Agree - because I would like to see Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 rereleased.

Disagree - because the graphics and gameplay would have to be significantly upgraded first. To MGS3 levels at least.

Metal Gear in particular would be nice to have. Solid Snake's very first mission.

A movie? Really? And Asteroids? Missile Command? What's next? Chopper Command? How about River Raid?

Never played MGS1. Liked MGS2. Really liked MGS3. Hope this trilogy happens. I'm also kind of hoping the gameplay will be updated so they all play the same.

I have exactly one EA game (Tetris), so I'm not sure EA's Online Pass will affect me too much. Even if it spreads to publishers I do buy from, I only buy games if they're worth buying new. And as fragile as the discs are, I'm a little leery of buying used. It is a pity EA is trying to loot bargain hunters with this online pass. The answer is simple: don't buy from EA. Ever. But especially not the Online Pass. If their profits take a big enough hit over this, they'll ca...

Lol at the first picture. Iwo Jima: a battle projected to take about a week ended up being a 36 day slog. I can see why a 360 avatar would want to stay away.

The author makes some interesting points. He needs to learn to use 'successor' instead of 'predecessor,' however. Wouldn't it be reasonable to expect a journalist to have some kind of decent vocabulary?

Assassin's Creed: Black Ops

I hope not. Guitar Hero is dead and CoD is a laughingstock. Milking a franchise doesn't end well.

5446d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Good points raised, the CoD comment was a little hyperbolic, but that just serves to drive home the point that Activision is milking the franchise.

The critics can go hang. It's no doubt nice to get good reviews, but when dealing with sequels, name recognition and word of mouth are better selling tools. So a sequel should be designed to please the fans and, hopefully, add new ones. So it makes sense to build on the features that made the fans happy to begin with. If it&#...

I don't see how knowledge of computer engineering is necessary. A little girl with no knowledge of electrical engineering can still flip a light switch. A 17 year old d***wad with a letter jacket and no knowledge of physics can still throw a football so it'll land where he wants it. A vapid whiny celebutante can drive a bmw with no knowledge of mechanical engineering. And a sweet old lady can mop her floor and take her heart meds with no knowledge of chemical engineering. So why does ...

They're gamers. Imagination isn't strictly necessary. Not like it would be to read a book. All the gamers who do have the imagination and creativity are playing LittleBigPlanet and ModNationRacers. Or they're watching classic horror movies.

Imagination is THE classic toy. I kind of miss mine. It's atrophied somewhat from all the years of disuse.

As long as the franchise can stay fresh, it should be allowed to survive. Yes, I'm looking at you, Ubisoft, and you Sony. Assassin's Creed, InFamous, and LittleBigPlanet have been brilliant so far. As long as they stay brilliant they'll be fine. I have no problem playing Assassin's Creed 28, where Desmond Miles becomes the first Assassin to die of old age, lbp13 now with the tools to create your own game engine, or InFamous 12, seeing Cole gain power over Pringles.

Illegal mods to a car is a good analogy. I might have a better one.

When you get a Driver's license, you agree to follow the rules of the road. If yo violate those rules, the state is within its rights to take away your license: your right to drive. Even though you still own your car.
It's the same with the ps3. You don't buy the software (OS or games) you buy a license to use it. When you buy that license, you agree to follow Sony's rules. If you br...

Ethan Mars in Heavy Rain. One son is killed, the other is kidnapped. And then there's the stuff he had to go through to MAYBE get him back. All through this the police are after him because they think he's a serial killer.

Exactly. The article does suggest a correlation, but that's not the same as a cause-effect relationship. Are they anxious and depressed because they're addicted? Or are they addicted because they're anxious and depressed. We'd have a better picture from an article in the APA Journal, as opposed to a summary of the study on a gaming site looking for hits.
