Yeah, they did make a joke about it. When I learned it was a turn based RPG, I knew I had to have it. It played like Super Mario RPG on the SNES with the button pressing for more damage\spin stick. I would be okay if the FF 7 remake had a similar battle system. As long as its not an action RPG battle system.
Cowboy beebop as well.
No, I actually want the old system to remain as untouched as possible. Most action RPGs aside from Kingdom Hearts are not that good on my opinion.
Edit: I think Neptunia is doing something right. They keep making Neptunia games left and right. If people are as tired of turn based combat then Neptunia wouldnt still be made turn based right?
Yes I know Neptunia U is like dynasty warriors, but thats called a spin off.
Also I'm pretty sure S...
I was thinking more along dragon age and dragons dogma when I hear action RPG. Dark/demon souls was tolerable while Kingdom Hearts was the best Action RPG I've played (I tend to forget its considered an action RPG). With that said, KH works because it has a charm that few other action RPGs have.
Square is trying to westernize their games and with that I fear they may make it like Dragon Age and Dragons Dogma. Even if they make it like KH it wouldnt work. Like you said, to...
I'll be buying Persona 5 day one on PS4. I hope they do something that will let the player choose the battle system at the start of the game. That may add to development time but it would please everyone.
I have not enjoyed an action RPG at all. I find them boring and uninteresting.
@CaspiR
The persona series would like to say hi.
Yeah because their battle systems after FF X (minus 11 and 14) were so well recieved.
The safest thing they can do is give people the option to choose between a battle system of their choice. Yes it'll take longer to develop, but it'll please most people old and new alike.
If its an action RPG then I wont buy it.
Its highly unlikely they'll use the ff XV battle system since its too much of a drastic change.
Face it, it has to remain a type of turn based combat or there will be a backlash.
I would be okay with a modified FF XIII battle system.
Those fans are safely in the minority
Lets face it, if Square makes too much of a change, most fans including myself wont buy it.
I'm going to go into conspiracy mode here so take what I'm about to say for a grain of salt.
Nintendo secretly hates the Metroid series and wants to kill it off. The best way to do this is to release a Metroid game that doesn't feature Samus and is the exact opposite of what Metroid games are and it looks like Chibi characters (to me at least).
This would cause fans to outrage and demand it to be canceled on which Nintendo sees this and takes it a...
All of these concerns are what I share as well. Especially the battle system. They'll lose so many sales from changing it.
10 - 1 if they do change the battle system, the Internet will suffer a meltdown rage forcing square to remove Nomura from the project and have someone to remake it to the way the fans would want it.
Face it, the best way to do this is to have it set to where the fans can choose between a classic vs new battle system so both sides can be happy.
That would cause a riot and petitions to remove Nomura from the FF VII remake.
Time to start a riot
I don't know the whole details of everything so I'll sum up everything I know about games like this coming over here and why it's a big deal in one simple statement.
It's a licensing nightmare here in the US.
ATLUS please....my wallet can't take any more!
No worries there, I remember reading something about foreign (to Japan) companies can't purchase companies in Japan.
Nintendo had no business purchasing Atlas. I'm generally happy that SEGA bought them to let them continue business as usual.
Why isn't Direct TV on that list? It deserves a solid spot at #1 24/7.
It actually needs to stay turn based if it has any chance of selling to the fans for nostalgia. At least impliment a design choice to allow turn based and non turn base game play. That would work both ways.
