Massive price drop and/or new SKU within the next 6 months.

We all know that Sony has been working hard on getting production costs down.

But they need within the next 6 months or so some serious bums on seat numbers - at least 10 million consoles sold - to satisfied the developers of the AAA games coming out like MGS, FF, GT5, Killzone 2, LBP etc.

Afterall, they're all in it for the money/profits.

Bring on the price drop.

That's the issue now.

Prologue is clearly not a demo because demos are usually free, are based on a completed game and are normally released just before the full game is.

Also, most wouldn't buy a demo but just save their money for the full game. And I don't expect to see GT5 till at least mid 2008 - especially to get realistic damage perfected.

Prologue is clearly a mini-game giving a taste of things to come. Now it's a matter of balancing what y...

but by Christmas it's impact on xbox 360 sales would have started to wane.

After Halo, there's nothing else that Microsoft has that could result in massive increase in console sales. A great game like Bioshock hasn't done it nor will Mass Effect, Alan Wake or even GeoW 2.

Sony just needs to sit out the next three months and allow the Halo hype to die down then they will have the market with LBP, GT5, FF, MGS & Killzone....and others.

BF:BC, CoD4, Army of Two, Killzone 2...they're all comig thick and fast.

Bring them on.

You can play games under the console's Game OS.

Plus a Ps3 purchase lasts at least 6 years with no need for expensive hardware upgrades - a one off purchase.

Windows is the dominant OS for PCs and is why most developers write software for the PC with Windows not Linux.

Do I need to remind people of all the good games/deals we got with competition(Wii, Xbox & Ps3) in the Console market.

Now Sony should bring competition to the PC ...

They could easily develop their own operating system based on Unix or Linux as Apple did with Mac OS X - most of the coding has already been done and is open source.

Sony OS would be optimized for the Ps3 - fast, stable, secure.

Best of all Sony doesn't have to pay a dime to Microsoft for a PC OS and, if they wanted to, Sony could port their OS to the PC to challenge Vista/Windows.

Look Beyond.

I'll always keep saying this: the game console is old school; the future is the PC Console.

This is what Sony should have pushed from the get go.

$400 Ps3 with:

* 120 G HDD
* Sony Linux OS - preinstalled, sleek, fast, optimized
* Numerous Open Source Software - Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice, TheGimp, etc.
* DVD R/W - with standard laptop bay for optional upgrade to Bluray

This SKU would have sold like hotcakes...

I did check out youtube gameplay vids, forums and various reviews of killzone and agreed completely with the reviewers that it was an average game - even though I had never purchased or played it.

I decided not to buy this game because of this judgement. However, eventually I did buy it due to the Killzone 2 hype as I needed to see what the problems with the original game were.

Having bought Killzone and played it to the end, my pre-judgement of the game was abso...

If they didn't get six-axis to be as sensitive and responsive as Warhawk then they should have provided a fully functional analogue stick option. Commonsense really.

And again...

The ground battles are so boring. The dragon appears to be under no threat on the ground and is simply slaughtering the troops at will.....boring.

Where's the challenge in bashing and flaming troopers at will? There should be real risk involved when landing your dragon su...

Hell yeah.

I'll be lining up for Endwar and a good RTS fix.

I'm loving Ubi more and more.

Die Hard is a classic actioner - one of the greatest ever made. None of the sequels came close to it althought Die Hard 3 put in a good showing.

Halo is just like Die Hard - a classic FPS.

Killzone(the original) is an average game at best - nothing like Halo or Die Hard. All who have played it know the obvious problems with it.

GG has shown at E3 & GC that they are fixing those problems - the very problems that made the original game average a...

It'll be a rushed job, idiotic and simply isn't necessary.

Allow the hype to die and other games like Haze, CoD4 & UT3 to catch the attention of shooter fans.

Then in 2008 the market will be ripe for the picking for the ps3 and a killzone BETA.

I'm guessing Sony is allowing developers to voluntarily program for Remote Play - as the PSP doesn't have all the funcitions of a Ps3 controller.

Other games are likely to follow.

But I'm hoping that Sony develops a new PsP that has all the capabilities of the Ps3 controller. Then I'll buy a PsP for sure.

Ps. I wish they had chosen a better game. Damn, Warhawk would have been so sweet playing in bed with my Ps3 purring away in the Lounge.

Few months ago I was saying the the PSP2 should be used as a Ps3 controller/display to be able to use the Ps3 around the home.

If Lair is an experimentation into that possibility then the futre is going to be obvious. Now the future PSP needs dual analogue sticks and if possible a six-axis function then remote play/use of the Ps3 will be a definite.

Likely that developers will voluntarily add options to remote play like Factor 5 has with the current PSP.

But it was article posted on N4g at GC where the playing unit was revealed in a small viewing room as not a PS3.

One video is all class and beauty and very laid back.

One video is all aggression, in your face and screaming to be heard.

Yes. There's a clear winner here. I'll take class over aggression anyday.

To each his own.

This ain't happening.

There's no way they'll have a demo available before Christmas.

I believe at GC they were using massive developers machine to demo the game.

They still have alot of work to do to have a demo readied by years end.

Just expect a Beta around E3 2008. Then you won't be disappointed if no demo shows.

@boot & kigmal
have u seen the gameplay footage of Uncharted?

Early build and still great gameplay - although not perfect.

Unlike Lair, there's no doubt Uncharted won't have any major problems and unlikely to have bad reviews.
