People that talk crap about the Xbox One simply don't understand that it was designed and built with social media and multimedia integration, games simply come second to that design philosophy. PS4 on the other hand is missing a lot of those features at launch because it was designed and built for gaming first, social media and multimedia come second. Considering that both have custom desktop/laptop parts (the CPU is better in performance to an Intel core2 quad), but only half as powerful...
Actually no, chipworks themselves confirmed that its a custom desktop Pitcairn core. A full 20 CU core with 2 cores disabled. According to the cinemablend chart, an HD 7870 beats a GTX590 so no it isn't a crappy GPU.

Also according to a synthetic benchmark loaded completely on CPU (thought t...
Yes, the custom HD7870 with 2 CUs disabled and some other architectural differences in the PS4 has so far proven to be more powerful than a HD7850 but less powerful than a full on, "off the shelf" HD7870, so I agree that the PS4's GPU is more powerful at least theoretically than the 750ti. It should be between the 7850 and 7870. Then again there are still some unanswered questions in regards to presence and function of some things on the APU die as well as the buses used because...
Soundbot SB250 supports both 3.5mm audio out as well as Bluetooth 3.0 out. It has excellent frequency response and great bass output but of course that depends on the quality of the input. So it literally has the best of both worlds wired connection to work with ps4 and BT 3.0 for after the ps4 supports Bluetooth headsets.

Also PS2, PS3, soon to be to a lesser extent PS4, Gamecube (N64 Zelda games were simply emulated via custom backend), Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, and even Xbox One all have included either a local software implementation, or local hardware implementation of backwards compatibility so tell me again how this is not an industry standard when all consoles from the last 3 generations have included it. It is more commonly used than not so I think I've satisfied your requirements for an industry stand...
How are consoles a different industry than pc when they are both one part of the consumer electronics industry which all share quarterly financial similarities? Are not consoles more recently just a PC with proprietary software functions and fixed hardware environments? As for future proofing, if that were true to the fullest extent, we would still be playing a PSOne with no need for future generations that we experienced. Another flaw with this argument is that an innumerable amount of four ...
It is an industry standard and PC has had it literally for decades. Even now dosbox, scummvm, and emulators answer the call for retro compatibility. In fact most of the methods you mentioned I personally owned. Going back to C64 or heck even my old Tandy 2000 by RadioShack I remember the experiences well and later on how fun it was to revisit things. I am not a young gamer and integrating brand recognition/ brand experiences past and present into one cohesive package is something that benefit...
I've had my vita for a while now, just got rid of a Wii u because I disagree with a lot of Nintendo's choices this gen, and I'll get a PS4 next year when they are more available... but I fail to see how Gaikai is anything other than a compromise for true backwards compatibility. I see with this service that varying ISP speeds and unknowns like peak time net congestion will play a role in this service's functionality, but even given the knowns like the presence of some advanced...
Pipe and a crepe?
Yeah I took my copy of DH:A back and got Rayman Origins instead. I am really liking it as it reminds me so much of the original Rayman titles, so full of vibrance, personality, and the art direction really gives it that classic feel and identity. It's alot more fast-paced than I remember the original being but it's an addition I appreciate.
Then why is the price so high on PSN? No box, card, shipping, etc. I played it and my impression is that it's a low-res, unoptimized (slowdown in spades), rehash with almost nothing added to make it worth the asking price. The menus and fonts are too small, it doesnt have good use of the Vita's features, it's extremely repetitive... overall it's the same thing I played on the iphone/ipad/android phone/android tablet and thats one of the many reasons I took it back and traded i...
@ Logic...lol delusional? HAHAHA... Thank you so much much for making my day full of laughter and smiles. I hope you enjoy your day as well....
@ ronin4life
Hey thanks for the reply. Fair enough that your not interested in the Vita, but since you have played the 3DS and most of these guys and gals on here have played the 3DS, you all owe it to yourself to make an educated assertion by also playing the Vita. Dont sell yourself and your opinion short, find a demo unit and try it. I remember waiting months for the 3DS eStore, and the web browser to become available while I played what few launch games there were (they w...
I just have to ask... Have any of you guys or gals preaching the merits of the 3DS actually played a Vita? Have you actually seen the unit in person, picked it up in your hands, and played some of the games it has? I imported mine last December and have had time for the initial luster to wear off...it's still amazing and beautiful when compared to other technology. It theoretically has around 10x the rendering capability of the 3DS and around 4x the muti-tasking capabilities. All due resp...
Seriously, this has nothing at all to do with the PS Vita. It's either an obvious mistake on someone's part or an obvious troll.
@ radphil
The following is my opinion and as such only applies to how I feel....
As an owner of a tablet, a smartphone, and a PS Vita(import), I have to completely agree with the limitations of touch-screen only gaming...it's just not there. There is no replacement for dedicated tactile controls in the response and coordination department. I've played many high priced games on my Acer Iconia A500 and none of them hold even a candle to the overall qual...
The very first thing I'd like to do is thank you for your time and for being forthcoming, I wish it was more prevalent on the internet. Since you have explained it to me it is understood that you cannot use this exploit or the PSP emulation exploit to pirate games directly? I get it. As for me judging you, to base my opinion on a random set of comparative facts on the internet was wrong and for that much I do apologize. I think the grand majority of consumers and end-users that do not use...
You Speak as though hackers can not be pirates, your the first to hurl personal insults. If the shoe didnt fit, then you were unwise to try to where it. Listen I have nothing against homebrew which I thought I made clear, where I take issue is posting the exploit online making it possible for anyone to run stolen software. You have so far failed to mention the most prevalent reason for DRM, and extensive security measure. I mean seriously, why would companies invest money into security if str...
@ Eiffel
hahaha. You act as if they are mutually exclusive yet you cite my ignorance? How pray tell would the pirates steal and run ISOs on a closed and secure platform without it being hacked? Do you proof read in your little pretend world? One would be nigh non-existant were it not for the other. It would be naive on anyone's part to openly circumvent the security measures on consoles, make the method publicly available, and NOT have the expectation that software pirat...
Also bear in mind that the test results are based on the performance of one CPU, which the PS4 has 3 of. Two quad-core Jaguar CPUs and one Arm MPCore for background and specialized system function. The PS4 does not have to compensate for slow system memory/ I/O bandwidth by using a more powerful higher clocked CPU. PC architecture has mostly used brute force to compensate for system overhead, slow system buses, and less memory bandwidth, but consoles have always incorporated bare metal progra...
