I’m a PlayStation player primarily. But I think PlayStation has gotten a decent chunk of their good reputation by NOT doing the same stupid shit as Microsoft and just staying the course, lots of their wins have been handed to them. This is a compelling reminder that they’re still a big corporation, and they still are going to do the same boneheaded, stock-holder sycophancy BS as any other big company. Hopefully this colossal failure will sting them back in line, but I’m not holding my breath....

Why? The first one already had a significant boost when played on PS5 and looked good. Plus, maybe it’s just me, but while I love the Horizon games they’re not ones I see myself playing repeatedly. Waaaaaay too soon for a dedicated remaster to make any sense.
I’d go a step further and say most people at that level have some sort of dark triad trait personality. Same as politics. There’s exceptions to be sure, but usually you climb that high on the backs of others.
Yeah I don’t think the mode choices are going away. I think it will just change in some games to locked 30fps/40fps with proper Ray tracing, and 60 fps performance with what is PS5 quality mode graphics as the Pro performance mode. But it won’t matter to me because I’m not paying $700 for a disc-less console

Oh I’m not worried. I’m disappointed and pissed. Literally worse case scenario on the price, I was on board til the price, and now it’s a hard no. Any other combo I probably would have grumbled but still got it, but $699 with no drive is a bridge too far. They fumbled this at the goal line. Hard. How much is a fucking PS6 gunna coat? Jesus. I imagine part of it is that they’re not willing to take any kind of a hit on the pricing because the Pro isn’t really gunna move extra softer.

Ditto. I’d say I’m the target demographic for this console, and they just priced me out. $599 with a disc drive, day one, 599 with no disc drive, grumbling a lot but still probably would have gotten it. $699 no disc drive? I’m out. I just can’t square it.
