Yeah I think he even hinted at it himself, and him not being primary director on Ragnarok would seem to bear that out. I love his work, would be so cool to see a new IP from Santa Monica with him at the helm.
I’m sure they won’t miss the gen, but given how PS first party exclusives are usually announced at least a year out from release, the silence from them is a bit odd. Probably behind after what ended up being a waste of time with the multiplayer LoU game. But I’d have expected a teaser or something by now to start generating hype for whatever’s next.

(Spoiler) when you fight Tyr repeatedly in Valhalla, he pulls out what looks to be Egyptian Kopis blades for one fight, what I believe are Mayan obsidian edged swords for another, and what looks like a Chinese dao (or maybe a heavily stylized) katana. I feel like maybe those are teasers for possible settings
I honestly don’t know if Kratos is gunna be the protagonist in the next game. With the end of Valhalla, and the fact that Atreus is the one who’s gone off on his own at the end of the main game, I’m wondering if they’re gunna pivot to focusing on an adult Atreus. Maybe not. Curious to see.

No. Far too far along in development for them to pivot hard enough to save it. They can remove the GaaS elements, but at the end of the day they have 4 characters shooting guns that seem to play quite similarly. Not what anyone wants.
I’ll get one. If it makes it where choosing 60FPS mode didn’t give such a noticeable hit to graphical quality, that would be enough for me. Probably won’t be for the bulk of gamers, but they already know how it went with PS4 Pro so imagine they have reasonable expectations. Plus there’s always a little bit of a status aspect to such products. For people with friends that is, I have no friends. lol.
