I guess I will get that one.
got $125 towards a ps3 which I will use primarily for movies. i resisted the format war as long as I could to see it play out but its looking blu which I am glad to see since now the ps3 has that little extra bonus I was looking for.

after learning a few hard lessons i decided to check official ps3 forums to search out possible issues I might encounter. I mean 1080p looks nice and all but it isnt earth shattering. certain upconverted dvds like monsters inc look indistinguishable from a current native 1080 signal, Even if its very close then that is just not a big enough leap to base the next 15 years on. You can mute and select "avoid this player" by selecting that player either in game or on the recently played list. however if your like me you got tired of banning 90% of the idiots that you have to deal with.
I bought one movie for it. The problem for them is the movie catalogue doesnt hold up against the blu-ray catalogue. I have a kid and I only buy movies for her since she watches them hundreds of times so it makes sense. As of right now all the best kids movies are on blu. I made a poor choice. I am shopping a ps3 now to use as a blu ray player, I hope I dont regret that a year from now.

They ruin it for everyone. I dont mind swearing at all but when it gets personal or degrading it really p1sses me off. muting people works but you would spend half your session doing it. They need to put speech recognition into an update that auto kicks you for a day if you use the offending words. N-bomb and F-bomb are the worst. I have had good convos with lots of people on live but my overall feeling towards it is negative. Maybe the free headsets doesnt weed out enough of the hillbillies....
Sony doesnt even make the screens for their lcd's. they are made by samsung. But at least Samsung makes superb tvs thus Sony tv's are also great.

Hd DVD is on life support though. I hate to tie the two together. I just got a PS3 and bluray was the reason. I am impressed so far with everything else about it though, graphics are easily as good as the 360 and the washed out colors are nowhere to be found on my hdtv they are just as rich and vibrant as the 360. I still love my xbox though. I am stoked to not have to miss any great game for either system.
