Take notice of that. Clocks speed is only half the picture, also depends on what kind of bus you have connecting the to the RAM.

Everyone thinks the PS3 RAM is way faster than XBox360's; 3.2 ghz vs 700 mhz. PS3 wins right?

Well, yes, the PS3 is faster, but-

360 has a wider bus, thus it can accomplish more per clock cycle than the PS3 can. In short, the PS3 ends up being marginally faster, but not as much as you would think.

Just saying th...

They can have other options available.

120$ for home users. One time fee, unlimited use.

120$ per computer it it will be installed on for businesses (quickly become very expensive).

Or: Free installation, but a few center per hour used.

Remember, it was always a rumor anyways, we don't know how MS would use it. However, I'm sure they would come up with a system that is reasonable. I doubt they would make home users pay per use.

Just because a patent is denied doesn't mean they can't use the technique. IDK the details, but it doesn't matter...

Windows 7 (or any OS) would never be licensed on a pay per use basis. However, pay per use would be a reasonable licensing option for things like MS Office; at least in corporate situations.

I agree with everything said in this article.

Fact is Windows 7 will be better, but have many of the same problems.

"Windows 7 uses my ram!"
Windows 7 doesn't use fewer resources, it simply pushes things to the page file more aggressively. For those with a little knowledge, they will say "wow, less ram used, W7 is better." That's only half the picture. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and MS knows that doing something less than op...

When the PC starts running out of ram I've seen Vista using up less than 200 mb of ram (on my laptop).

Windows 7 become more aggressive at pushing things out of ram to a page file, and a bunch of people say "ohh, less ram used, Windows 7 is best." They're only looking at half the picture.

Windows 7 will be good. But Vista is NOT bad.

Then I got a job in retail. I have never witnessed this happening.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? Or do we only have these empty accusations?

Every time a sale says "Was 59.99" it's telling the truth from my personal experience.

Your dead to me. The next game of yours that enters my system will be Battlefront III, and it better have this seamless ground to space gameplay that was spoken of.

I have Vista installed and currently have 46 processes. I have steam running in the background, xfire, ATI-CCC, and sound driver software, I also have firefox open. 900 mb of ram used, a 1.5 gig page file being used.

I would expect MS to improve upon Vista, and Vista has always been very stable for me. Then again, I have 4 gigs of ram (cost about 40 dollars), and a mediocre processor.

For everyone saying it uses less resources? How did you arrive at this conclusion? Simply by looking at ram usage, "Wow, only 25% ram used, Vista used 40%."? All this would mean is that 7 uses a page file more aggressively, not necessarily that it uses fewer resources.

1. How do you know the wireless issues are related to Vista? Could be hardware, could be a weak signal. I don't have any wireless problems with Vista.

2. You can turn off the pop ups.

3. I don't know much about system restore, but how many times have you used the system restore on the much praised Windows XP? Also, what are you doing to warrant a system restore in the first place?

4. Boot up time sounds suspiciously wrong. On both my computers (b...

What drivers do you have for Windows 7 that are not available for Vista?

I'm still seeing nothing but subjective isolated opinions.

Also, about the RAM difference. Do we know for sure that Windows 7 is actually uses less resources, or is it just more aggressive in pushing things out of ram into the HDD cache?

For example, when I run a game that uses 80% of my 1 gig of ram, I find Vista uses only about 150 mb of ram simply because it's working overtime ...

This is about as deep and detailed as the Vista complaints get. Not many good and specific complaints against it.
