@JEECE
"Because a game designed for PS4, which cross gen games necessarily will be, by definition doesn't truly take advantage of PS5."
Lets look at MM and see if you're correct that it doesn't truly take advantage of the PS5:
4K - check
60FPS - check
Instant Loading - check
Ray Tracing - check
Improved Textures, Lighting, Models, etc. - check
SSD usage, i.e.Super-fast Loading - check
Because these games cost millions to make. I honestly don't get why people care so much about it releasing on PS4. Miles Morales is one of the best examples of how to do next gen. Game modes such as 4K/60, 4K/RT/30, 1080/RT/60. Options! If it was limited 30FPS I could see the fuss, but seems like people that own or want a PS5 just want to feel "special" or something. Let the plebs play their game with much worse graphics and be happy that the developers can earn a paycheck. Thes...
Say what you want about the game (boring, shipping simulator), but the game definitely had an impact on me. The feeling of loneliness and separation is what makes it so applicable in the current times. The soundtrack is utterly perfect to set the mood too. To me, it's another example of games-as-art and just like most art, it's not for everybody.
They woulda been better off just releasing the controller with a DL code of all the classic games.
My bad, I guess they don't specifically mention resolution. However, they do say mention upgradeable PS4 games to the PS5 versions. That's where the resolution bumps would happen.
Did you read?
"Select PS4 games will benefit from the PS5 console’s Game Boost, which may make PS4 games run with a higher or smoother frame rate."
You clearly haven't seen Miles Morales running at 4K 60.
It's like Switzerland saying "Well, I guess we won WWII."
Sony is doing the smart thing. Entice PC gamers by giving them a taste of the gaming excellence available on their console. There's no way in hell they will pull a Microsoft and start releasing new games day and date on PC. If PC gamers are willing to wait for a few tasty morsels 2-3 years later – by all means, eat it up.
All PS4 games can be downloaded or streamed. I always download them for obvious reasons.
I paid $40 for a year of PSNow. They have sales like that all the time. Even at the regular price of $60, it's an incredible value. Sony exclusives are actually worth retail price, so I don't mind them not being on PSNow until later. I also don't mind that games leave the service over time because I try to play them when early and then move on. I'm hooked on Dead Cells right now from August, so we'll see if I get to September games anytime soon.
I'm not really $ure what Epic'$ motivation i$.
So, do you also think Sony and Microsoft are greedy for not allowing Steam, EGS, etc. on their consoles?
The kind of game we need right now. Really hoping they add split screen though.
The premise is wrong. The cell architecture in the PS3 was the "mistake". BC just isn't possible for PS3 games (yet). The PS4 actually fixed that "mistake" by going X86 architecture.
Gamepass is Microsoft's saving grace. They will keep subscribers on its teat and generate loads of cash. But, that's also its biggest problem. All their first party studios seem to be making games tailored to their service. Nothing revolutionary here. Nothing with Game-fo-the-Year potential. Nothing to persuade Playstation's loyal customers to jump ship. What you get are loads of fun games at a low price. But the top tier, Game-of-the-Year contenders with the best graphics will al...
I can see AAA games with SP, MP, hours of gameplay especially since we are finally seeing the decline of microtransactions. But, if a 6-hour single player game costs $70, that is BS. People are understandably upset about NBA2K21 costing $70 because these games come out every stinking year with minor changes. Why not just make it a subscription service and not make us buy a new game every year?
This is going to be huge. Can't wait!
There is some truth to what @masterfox is saying. Naughty Dog used to be known for their fun, light-hearted adventures. I loved TLOU because of its deep narrative despite the dark theme. It had a glimmer of hope and we could all identify with Joel and why he did what he did. But this game? - Nah. When I heard about the story and utter lack of hope and "fun", I lost my excitement for the sequel. I do plan to borrow if from a friend at some point, but my expectations aren't what t...
@kingjohnm Ah, no. It was cancelled for both.
I also waited to play on PS5 and soooo glad I did. Smooth as butter. I didn't notice any slowdown even with the hordes. Probably because I was so focused on surviving (LOL). The horde mechanic is pretty awesome – probably the best part of the game. Intense, stressful and challenging. I really hope they expand upon it for the sequel.
