Switch won't have Red Dead Redemption 2, neither will PC - anyone who wants to play it will need a console and Scorpio will have the best-looking version... that, and Scorpio/RDR are far better positioned with their holiday launches, whereas Switch sales will plummet during the gulf between Zelda and Mario.
$470 in Australia - I don't know what Nintendo are thinking, but launching in March at that price is suicide... it doesn't matter how many GotY awards Zelda wins, NOBODY is going to pay that kind of money!
I don't think any of it will release in 2017 - Tetsuya Nomura (KH3/FFVII director) just said both games 'still have a way to go' and that he'd like to show his progress at an event later in the year... doesn't make it sound like either title will be out anytime soon.
Called it!

To which assumptions are you referring? Be specific.
If that's the case then Platinum really need to bolster their numbers - that, or stop saying 'yes' to everything... Quality is more important than quantity, and the FACT is their most recent games (Star Fox Zero, TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan, Transformers Devestation and the Legend of Korra) were poorly recieved - not just critically, but commercially as well.
@Sparta: Quote - "I'll work extra hard to never have to let you down like this again, so I hope you will keep watching over us in the future too."... sure sounds like they're taking the blame!
What's sad is the sheer amount of misinformation surrounding this story - takes a special kind of a$$hole to go around bull$#!tting about a person's mental health... not to mention the people that see Scalebound's cancellation as a 'victory', regardless of what it means for Platinum.
Wow... never thought I'd see a Japanese guy apologize for something!
Platinum's output has been poor of late - likely the result of them working on so many games at once, but I assumed Kamiya's presence all but guaranteed Scalebound's quality... lest we forget, this was his 'dream game' - one he'd been shopping around for years before MS bought in.
Platinum were given plenty of time and money - more than they've ever had fo...
I'm saying they might not have a choice... and who said anything about a remaster?
@liquid: I have a PC - bought it so I could play the first Witcher - but I'm not buying Automata without playing the original Nier first and even if I did, I wouldn't play it on PC... unfortunately, 2nd hand copies are almost impossible to find in stores, but if it comes to the BC program I'll be able to get it digitally (which was never an option on 360/PS3).
Depends... If this 'fiasco' is Platinum's fault, then they could owe Microsoft some serious money - porting Automata could help them to pay such a debt.
I'm done playing games on my PC - sick of spending days scrolling through forums just to get a game to start... I'm just wait and see if Automata comes to xbox - save myself some $$$ while I continue my hunt for a 2nd-hand copy of the original... the way I see it, there's no point in buying Automata if I can't play Nier.
I'm not suggesting they give us Automata for free, I'm just saying Platinum should port it to XO - especially now that they won't be making any money with Scalebound... You make it sound as though Microsoft cancelled the game on a whim, but everything I've read makes it sound like Kamiya & Co weren't up to the task.
Your point?
F#@K lamentation - I want compensation!
MS should try to secure (or straight-up demand!) a port of Nier Automata (SE/Platinum said they'd bring it to XO if it doesn't flop on PC/PS4) and make the original Nier backwards compatible (with a digital version) - at least that way I'd be able to play both games on the same machine... Either way, this year's E3 better be chock-full of new game announcements - Scorpio's cool and all, but in the end it's the ...
The F#@K is this bull$#!t?!
Are Microsoft insane, or do they have some wierd ritual where they start every year with some bad BAD news? What a waste!
Okay, I knew this guy had a bleak outlook, but I had no idea he was this 'end is nigh-ey'... great interview, but Sweeny's predictions of a virtual tech-pocalypse (to which he's actively contributing!) are a bit extreme - not to mention hypocritical, with him $#!tting all over Oculus' Ios-style store, while he builds exclusive games for them!
and while his notions regarding VR tech are interesting, he strikes me as a man who knows a lot more about the vi...
Yeah, it's a bummer, but I figure the tech kind of needs the hype in order to go mainstream - better to have a bunch of dissatisfied customers than none at all, right? It's a necessary evil, but it's not all bad - early adopters can rest assured in the knowledge that their 1st-gen headsets will eventually be collector's items, while the rest of us wait for the (virtually) real thing.
As it stands, Devs NEED to solve the various problems associated with first...
The Scorpio will be roughly 5 or 6 times more powerful than the Switch... $499 is a bargain compared to what Nintendo are asking.
