Guys, you have to see this from a developer's point of view. Blow is a very famous man, he has the rep to get a game funded on his terms. Because of that fame, he can take risks that would ruin others completely.
These are resources privileges 99 % of devs around the world don't have, but they'll see this and think it's perfectly fine for them to be irresponsible too.
If the situation was him paying it out of pocket but in a reasonable budget,...
I'll go ahead and say I think Blow sets a bad example for other devs. This isn't the first time a dev paid for their game out of pocket, but it creates this false expectation that it's fine and OK for devs to put themselves into poverty, for what most people simply do for a living.
Not everyone who makes games is as famous or connected as Blow, but I fear other devs will be unfairly judged by his actions.
Amazon might have heard word of something Mass Effect related coming this year, but don't have all the details yet.
Good on Techland for reenabling mods on this game again! Actually, I hope to see more goofy and fun mods. Cow level anyone?
If Turtle Rock refuses to budge on the subject of DLC, adding modding tools and customization options, and giving fans a way to share their own content with each other in-game, will go a long way to making things better.
One thing; I actually saw an episode yesterday and it was more fun than y'all gave it credit for. They're absolutely aware how dumb the premise is... so they ramped it up to 10
Melee HD amirite?
LOL I'll bring this up at work. Used a pic from the archive and it looks like someone didn't double check when they started 'shopping
It really doesn't take that much to have a baseline understanding of gaming criticism and that gamers have nothing to fear from it.
I think you need to have more sympathy for 300 people losing jobs here
Yes, yes it is.
It seems the game needs a return to that culture of helpfulness to bring more people in and keep them playing. There are certainly enough older active players.
Yes
Guys, I want to be clear, The Witcher 3 does not have 16 hours of sex scenes. They recorded 16 hours of motion capture, that will be used for the sex scenes. Apparently there will be some randomization in those animations.
As you can see, I was clear about this in the headline, and also. in the article. Obviously if they needed 16 hours to record sex scenes there's a lot of them.
Interesting that you get experience for parkour.
Great feature, and you guys gotta admit, this is a perspective in gaming that you don't hear about very often. Also good to know Bayonetta dresses better than probably 99 percent of all video game protagonists.
I'm not saying there are few games. If you look at it, though, Namco takes the same approach other AAA devs does and only bring select games on Nintendo systems. Like, wouldn't Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin be a great game on Wii U? When was the last time a Nintendo console got a Naruto or Dragonball game? That's what I mean when I say their game output is limited.
But that just bolsters my point that this is something to get hype about, cuz it could be ...
I'd have to respectfully disagree with both of you. These companies get carte blanche to price games, including DLC, however they want, and rely on the market to tell them if they did the right thing or not. Compare the examples you gave to how DLC is priced for, say, Call of Duty, or Mario Kart 8. The size or income of the studio could be, but isn't the main factor in DLC pricing here.
It would be more reasonable to sell the maps as well, at lower prices for everything all around. I do understand Turtle Rock's insistence not to break up the player base.
343 was left in a terrible bind here. They announce a beta for the patch and people complain, now that the beta is canceled they have to deliver a fix without public testing. And of course, if they can't deliver, they'll get piled on too.
I'm not excusing the game's state when it was released, and I'm not saying they couldn't do it on their own but I can't help thinking the community just made it harder for 343, and in a roundabout way, themselves....
