"This really is revolutionary that they can get the latency as low as a console."
Highly deceptive, they only reduced the latency on server side and completely did not mention the time it takes from server to client (Which is most important part).
They also assumed a 10bmile distance from data centre directly to client which will never happen for 99% of users, considering even IP's need to bounce information across nodes which can easily be...
L4D2:
Fire axe + 3D, trust me.
Yes the Vita does trump the PSP in every single way and the launch titles are fantastic, I've bought 6 full retail games for the Vita.
But most people (in particular the Japanese) won't feel especially inclined to upgrade when they still have killer titles like 'Nayta no Kiseki' coming up. Or new comers will be easily enticed by the low $100 start price of a PSP system.
Ultimately it's inevitable that the Vita will be a run-away succes...
I buy consoles early since i'm not some cheap ass kid and actually enjoy all forms of gaming. But why should most people support a new system early when the predecessor is still releasing hit after hit almost 8 years since it's release.
Seems obvious to me that the sales of the PSP will directly translate to Vita sales once devs hit a brick-wall in development. But suffice to say that hasn't happened and most feel no reason to buy new hardware when the old still...
Armchair analysts should be left as armchair analysts.
It's easy to say Sony should converge and cut negative NPV assets. But then there are arguments that completely disprove this: simply because Sony's technology model is that based on synergistic benefits from having so many hands in different industry's. From a gaming perspective the PS3 would not have blu-ray, 7.1 audio or HDMI 1.3 if it weren't for their home-theater focus
Although at th...
You've completely failed to see my point if you think my contention is to prove Sony has value based pricing based on linking that to TV pricing.
Read closer, my point is that Samsung's pricing is not competitive at all.
Such an unfounded myth, honestly I have no idea how this even began, perhaps it's born from times when Samsung was a price leader by focusing on value rather than quality... this is completely untrue today:

Here we go, we have here someone telling us that $249.99 is "over 250$".
No wonder he'd "rather have a 3DS instead".
Trust N4G to bring out the colourful folks.
"is because games are considerably more expensive"
After Burner on the Sega Genesis was $54.95 way back in 1993, that's the equivalent of $97 today.
" but I don't really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product"
If a integrated network that combines digital delivery with online multiplayer with a single ID isn't a strong marriage of software and hardware, what is, a Mario game that uses 20yr old mechanics is?
Apparently so.
And we can all agree that the 3DS is proof of a strong "combination of software and hardware" s...
They are not patenting the "concept" of the network nor shoehorning themselves as the owners of the concept despite "Facebook and a slew of other networks" being first.
Read my comment, it's the organisation of how a gathering is done. Clearly this implies an automated program which collates data of users and sends them invitations and incentives to go to a real-world gathering.
That was very clear.
Classic case of bad memory, kids too young to know and ignorance of inflation. Games from the 1990 costed anywhere between $29.99 all the way to $59.99, in fact I distinctly remember paying $59.99 for Super Metroid on the SNES.
If a game costs $59.99 way back in 1995, today that equates to around $99, assuming a constant 3% inflation. Which is completely not the case.
Games are cheaper today, that's a fact.
The PC gaming scene has already been seen as less relevant thanks partly to the number of console ports. The last thing the scene needs is developers juggling resources to then port the game once again to the Mac where it may not even run the basics like Open GL.
You lot even read the article, or did yous just react to the headline?
"Coordinating real-world gatherings to promote an online community..... bridging the gap between the game world and the real world.”
That has nothing to do with the actual "gathering" but rather how the gathering is organised whether it be server based programs that auto-sends emails/ dlc incentives etc to attract people to real events. This is no different to Facebook p...
Thanks for the analysis of what I commented on, unfortunately you didn't even begin to understand the subtleties of the words I chose.
" from reading the review you was able to gather that NG3 capitalizes on the changes and is a better game than one that would have stayed true to it's roots."
No I did not say that, I said that the author has an ideal that's too far up his ass that he failed to credit the positives where it was due. Notic...
Ah so disappointment automatically means a 3/10...right, you know what that smells like to me, an overraction. If this author was to write in anything other than video games, he'd get skewed alive and made sure never to set foot in a publication as long as he lives.
But no, thanks for the lecture, pointers that use "apparently" or "maybe" are real solid interpretations of what the author was REALLY implying. Love how you insulted me at the end grouping...
Just because a game is different or is a departure from previous game does not make it a failure. What does make it a failure is if they were unable to capitalise on the changes to the point where simply meeting the status-quo would have been a better game...and quite frankly from the review it doesn't sound like that, rather it reads like an opinion of someone who is butt-hurt because he cannot play the same game he has played for the last 5 games and completely ignores the good points. ...
Arguments for phone gaming is a laughable one, those for it will be quick to quote how great and convenient their platform is for gaming (which I agree). That is until you ask the most important question on which games are great, to which they will reply: Infinity Blade...errr...Infinity Blade 2...ummm (red faces eschew).
The 3D in this game is awesome, makes all those mindf*** sections all the more mindf***-ey lol.
That has nothing to do with how "fast" your net is, that's your 'bandwidth' which is how much your line can transfer per second.
The most improtant part is the time it takes for a signal to relay back from server to you, this is 'speed' ie latency.
For a standard satisfcatory 720p game stream you only need around 10Mbps, but it becomes completely irrelevant for gaming if you have 200+m/s latency.
