Yep, this is exactly the whole point of the "Cloud computing" push, we are already being pushed to buy non-existent digital files, now we are standing on the edge of non-existent hardware. Comsumer choice will suffer because of it.
God, these articles are so ridiculous and one-dimensional they are beginning to look like jokes (or are so already). Can't they see that "Linear" games can offer open gameplay by allowing multi-styles of play such as how Uncharted gives you the opportunity to either: Stealth, Climb, flank or snipe.
Or perhaps this new found fad of bagging "Linear" games is merely a vehicle to critisise Uncharted because....well perhaps this "Linear" game actu...
Hmmm, don't know what to think about this, the quasi-sequel to the PSP game whilst interesting, to me it felt a bit dry in that it was basically expanding more on what the original game touched on. So this game better have some real endings.
Obviously I'm not going to expect everything to function properly on launch, although I do expect Sony to keep the promise of it function eventually via a firmware update. Afterall the PS3 on launch was so broken it didn't even upscale DVDs, but eventually we got what we wanted.
" Are pre-order bonuses actually helping anybody out anymore?"
Yes, take your DLC code slip and sell it on Ebay, you will get an average of $8-15 for it, and that's $8-15 off the price your paid.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
On top of that, they assume that Vita will only be a handheld gaming device in the traditional sense, but plainly ignores that the Vita is designed to be used with the Playstation Suite that encourages developers to program cross-platform titles whether they are on Playstation or on the Android Mobile market.
Nothing but growth here.
Yes, "spin" is really the only way these people can attack what is universally praised as a great series this generation. In fact I wouldn't be suprised if they went into the game with a great deal of bigotry.
To think that Uncharted is only a one big rip-off and not inspiring future games is total naivety in its greatest. Notice that once Uncharted was released we immediately see more games adopt more colourful characters who provide much more realistic voice w...
Anyone considering importing a Vita, AVOID PLAY-ASIA, their hyper inflated prices don't deserve your money and you shouldn't encourage them doing so, instead pre-order one from Amazon.co.jp and then ship with a proxy service like Tenso, you will get it close to retail price.
I really want to buy this game, but it's pretty much impossible to find on shelves.
Unlikely that Sony have "changed their minds" after the complaining, Vita will launch in less than 8 days in Japan, no where near enough time to reflash every console and ship them off to retailers.
Also it's making me think this is the reason the memory cards are proprietary, they have a small ROM inside for system information.
The reason why Uncharted 3 attracts all these type of articles is because it is too well realised as a game, to the point that people begin comparing it to mediums beyond video gaming as there is nothing that exists on par with it.
If anything, perhaps unintentionally, every piece of criticism drawn from outside of video games is ironically high praise of Uncharted and proof of its phenomenal success.
@Iceman
That was up to 4 or maybe more alternative Aliens 3 scripts most of which start off with Marines investigating the Sulaco ship, Colonial Marines game starts off with exactly this.
So you tell me, how isn't Colonial Marines based on any of the previously scrapped scripts of Aliens 3.
The story is based on the scrapped alternative script for Aliens 3, where Marines arrive immediately after the nuclear explosion over LV246 in the Aliens movie to investigate why the initial party has lost contact.
The opinion that Sony decided to use a proprietary format to claw back revenue from the potential threat of piracy has some validity but isn't anything new. In fact often I am left scratching head as to why this a hot topic only now months before the launch the Vita in Western markets.
Why is this a concern when the Sony PSP also uses a proprietary format, "Memory Stick Duo" which realistically still today attracts a price premium per megabyte, the idea that Son...
Bravo, someone who finally understands that corporations price based on value rather than OEM computer markets.
I wonder if there are dynamic themes like the PS3, the amount UI on the Vita makes it worth while to have.
Perhaps if you think about 3rd party publishers then you might understand why games have different prices.
The original PS1 (not ones we know of with the propriety video/audio plug) is actually an audiophile grade cd player.
Worth a small fortune if you sold one today.
If they commercialise this, it would be good visualisation tool for pro/amatuer drivers to learn the track...or just to have some fun.
Sony actually deflated the Vita numbers, with initial reports indicating 700k and now it's 500k.
So what's your point?
