Microsoft utilize them Obsidian is a great team.
That's not why DQXI is better, but okay.
It wasn't just his health though former President. Wada interfered a lot with the development of XII (he's the reason why Vaan and Penelo were shoehorned as leads)
Concept wise it was everything the franchise represented it was just poorly implemented. Four heroes of the light attempting to bring peace back to their kingdom. If that isn't Final Fantasy at it's core I don't what is.
Going back to turn based battle systems isn't Square Enix problem with the franchise.
True. Outside of Max Payne 3 their titles always have control issues.
This! Or hire Matsuno to direct
Why? Square was still losing money
True. FFXII and X-2 had the best combat in the franchise.
*edit
better than most AAA rpgs
This whole appeal to western audience is utter bs. Outside of the Bioware, CD Project and bethesda titles a vast majority released still play like crpgs/wrpgs and are turn based. Was Square influenced by wrpgs such as Witcher, Elder Scrolls? Maybe. That isn't the issue the game went through development hell and 15 was nothing more half baked concepts that was scrapped together within a three year period.
10, 12 and 14 were great titles. A Realm Reborn was pretty much the perfect return to form of what made the franchise great.
How was 12 less of a rpg? 12 party customization and stat building most AAA rpgs to come the past two generations.
True
Same could be said for the battle system in XIII. You can just use auto battle most of the game. Also it's like like the franchise was known for it's difficulty aside from Tactics.
Although it's a mmorpg A Realm Reborn is amazing probably the best FF title to come out since FFXII.
The franchise could return to it's glory, but knowing Square they'll screw it up.
I actually enjoyed the ATD system in XII it was decent step up for the ATB system. Final Fantasy XII had the chance to be one of the best in the franchise if Matsuno got to have his way. That's a different story for another time though.
Square's issue is the heavy reliance of Production team 2 and Nomura. Nomura takes on too many projects or the higher ups assigns too many projects to him. Nomura still hasn't proved himself to be a great director. Square needs to realize ...
Something tells you don't play a lot of WRPGs.
Call FFXV for what it is a mediocre game with poorly implemented concepts. Even it is influenced by wrpgs that was the least of its problems.
FFXV was nothing like a WRPG. FFXV was just simply just a mess of a game that was plagued with development issues.
Graphics, yes, but everything else that's a far cry. The music was okay for a FF title and FFXII and X-2 had the best combat in the franchise.
