Though your statement is true, 4/10 is not a mediocre review. Its generally accepted that a mediocre rating is somewhere in the ballpark of 70. This review comes off as someone with an axe to grind.

Youre really asking me if im bashing the article thats bashing a game that is reviewing well everywhere else? I read it. My point, which seems obvious, is why did they bother playing the game. To qualify to review something you should probably have at least a passing interest in it.

I agree. Souls games are something I have specifically avoided because I know they aren’t for me. Ive given most of them a shot and I just don’t really desire that level of challenge in my leisure time. Its the devs choice to make their games however they want, full stop. If they want to reach a wider audience than they will make accommodations. For those that want to experience the story in games that they can’t come to grips with, there are plenty of content creators out there.

I know a lot of people throw shade at Phil for various reasons. But as far as leadership for a gaming company goes, you could do a whole hell of a lot worse than him. Compare him to the likes of Zelnick, Kotick, Wilson, Guillemot, Pitchford… you get the idea.
I still cant believe people bought into the hype of this one. Let me tell you what I saw leading up to this release:
I saw a developer/publisher that broke a “promise” and abandoned support for their entirely botched previous game far ahead of schedule with the transparent excuse “we’ll do better next time”; signaling that their word means absolutely nothing moving forward.

Everyone has their preference I suppose. If the game is fun and engaging all the way through, that is what really matters.
5 games I won’t go anywhere near. If this is the “future” of “gaming” than I guess its a good thing that I have a backlog of a few hundred games to keep me busy until I die.
