TO TRY AND SELL 10 MILLION MORE.
If developers and publishers aren't held financially accountable, just as they aren't now.....then they'll keep putting out beta versions of their games for full price.
Give them something to fear, and their Q/A teams will stop running on shoestring budgets, and we'll get more competent products.
There's alot of games that are glitched or broken at launch this gen....doesn't matter the platform.
Also, Skyrim had problems and issues on all platforms as well.
Assuming you buy or have alot of games, You must not be buying games at launch if you haven't experienced any.
But as a sort of hint, when you see patches that say 1.04....that means it's been patched several times to get it right.
2011 - 2012
-DEAD SPACE 2 = FREE Extra Content on BluRay(Extraction)
-MASS EFFECT 2 = FREE Extra DLC content on BluRay
-BATTLEFIELD 3 = FREE Extra Download game (1943)
-ASSASSIN'S CREED 3 = FREE Extra game (AC1)
-STREET FIGHTER VS TEKKEN = FREE Extra character content & extra online modes XBOX 360 doesn't have.
**BIOSHOCK INFINITE = Scheduled FREE Extra Bioshock 1 & Move support ...
At the time they were breaking, XBOX 360 was effectively the better of the of the 2 HD consoles in terms of games and content.
However, now that Microsoft has proven that XBOX 360's can be competent, now, they simply have very few new games coming out that I want to play.
I can't speak for anyone else, but those egregious failure rates cost Microsoft my business.
Maybe Microsoft can earn my business for the next generation.
If they shut online servers down, then They should issue a patch that enables all of the online trophies.
That's why the Wii U is launching this holiday.
That's 4 consoles in a row.
Either holiday 2013 or holiday 2014, and I gotta tell you....it's looking more and more bleak for a 2013 launch with each passing day.
At least for Sony, if they don't mention, show or announce PS4 next month at GAMESCOM 2012 or TGS 2012 in September, then you can pretty much forget about it....at least for the PS4.

I mean the XBOX 360, PS3 and Wii were launched holiday 2005 and holiday 2006.
So why would it change for a PS4?
The Flash ram that's used (installed) in consoles is typically of a higher density, so it's more expensive.
Now, it's not outlandishly expensive, but it does add more cost than the kind you get in a Flash card or USB stick.
However, my point is, is 160GB Harddrives are already cheap, especially by the time Sony gets them at mass produced bulk rates.
I realize they could probably save a few bucks like $5 or so...but then Sony would...
I don't believe the rumors of this whimsical 16GB SSD model.
It just doesn't jibe with Sony's overall strategy of selling games and content out of their PSN store. And I also don't believe that putting a 16GB SSD drive will be "cheap enough" vs a 160GB harddrive that would warrant the loss of sales opportunity.
Price drop + redesign = Yes
16GB SSD unit = No
I prefer the AAA budget games, and those AAA budget exclusives are better than the ones on the PC. And actually, there aren't really that many AAA budget exclusives on the PC.
That's just my own personal feeling.
Obviously there are alot of developers that don't have the stature and/or don't have the money to get their game(s) out.
If that's what is being requested, and if said developer is being compensated.....maybe they were even given a huge signing bonus.
The point is, you can't say they should never, because each developers situation is different.
I'm just sayin.
For example HEAVY RAIN.....Sony heavily marketed and helped fund that game.
I don't think it's unfair for Sony to own HEAVY RAIN.

You make it sound as if Call of Duty is the ONLY game in town.
I assure you, I have NEVER bought a single Call Of Duty game this generation. In fact right now, I'm looking at the menu screen of BATTLEFIELD 3.
Yes, Call Of Duty is popular, But I'm confident 70 million PS3 users can find something else to play.
