Where do these people come from? Anyone that has been following this game at all should know that early previews have been praising the game and so many have said it's closer to the original than any other game in the series. Some people just want to be contrarians and it makes them feel cool to go against the grain. I would bet some of these haters secretly have the game already preordered but just want to sound like anti whatever is popular know it alls.
Withholding reviews until the day before release has become pretty common over the last couple years and many of those games have turned out amazing. I think it's more because developers don't want their games spoiled before the average gamer gets a chance to experience it for themselves. It's already happened with this game with the Middle East leak. There's ending spoilers everywhere now.
It was always my understanding that Mario and Luigi were 2 plumbers from Brooklyn NY and wen to down a magical pipe and ended up in the mushroom kingdom. I was originally hoping this game would be an origin story of how mario became the savior of the mushroom kingdom but it looks like instead of going with a real New York it's new donk city crushing my hopes for an origin story.

Princess Zelda has really moved away from the damsel in distress stereotype for awhile now. She's been a pirate, a weird boy like ninja or something I'm not sure exactly(ocarina) and also just a strong leader that link helps out and that also looks to be her role in the new game.
It seems the timeline of the wind waker branch seems to not really care about the whole hyrule thing at all. The Link dies after ocarina timeline seems to be reserved for handheld releases so that seems to leave the young link lives timeline that also has twilight princess which seems closest to Breath of the wild. I really want to believe that Nintendo is trying to tie up all the story and timeline. Making skyward sword the first in the timeline and releasing hyrule historia makes me think Nintendo knows there's a want for some kind of continuity and this game is the perfect opportunity to make it happen. I found walking dead season 1 mildly entertaining and thought it had no business being game of the year. I haven't felt the need to play another since then cause they all seem the same. My backlog is bad enough with games Id much rather play.
Just started it last night in VR and it's hands down the killer app VR needed. I didn't even get any motion sickness and I played for hours. I could never go back to the tv with this game.
