Most likely the power supply parts are on the motherboard in the PS4 rather than as a separate board. Microsoft just did what many manufacturers do: they used a 3rd party design power supply that they have to house somehow, and so came the brick that you see.

No biggie considering test equipment like $140,000 Oscilloscopes such as the Infiniium 90000 X-Series that have highly exotic chips inside also have 3rd party power supplies inside them that the engineering team bought ...

LOL, I found it hilarious that you only post one benchmark to make Nvidia seem like they are not struggling in GPU compute. If you had bother to post all the benchmarks then people would see that a HD7970 GHZ utterly destroys the $1000 Titan in GPU compute. If Nvidia does not hurry and get their act together then AMD is going to stomp all over them as more games start to rely heavily on GPU compute rather than graphics ability alone.

Have a look:

They need to Hurry up with Kaveri CPU and the next iteration of their video cards. The Green team already released their 700 series and Intel released their Haswell CPU's. Come on AMD! You are letting your enemies get the foothold on you. I am tired of Intel and their prices and tired of Nvidia charging $1000 for a video card...We need some AMD goodness.

Guys, do not ever expect the PS4 to become a Windows 7 box that you paid $399 when some hacker makes it possible to install Windows on it. I just want to make it clear to anyone here that if you bought this console thinking that over time you will run Windows 7 and play high end games on Steam to rub it in our faces that you can do the same thing as us PC guys AND play PS4 games, then you are FOOLING yourselves. The raw power is only enough for games, not a full fledged PC that handle million...

The CPUs in these consoles are only powerful enough to run games and not other intensive tasks at the same time. But that does not matter to someone that just wants a game box that runs game software, right? Don't ever expect the PS4 to run Windows 7 and games for Steam without super lag because the CPU's are not strong enough to handle more than a few tasks at one time compared to a more powerful CPU found in PC's.

You get enough CPU power for the gaming, which ...

When I think of the PS4 I get this vibe of one hell of a good speech: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

For Xbox 1 I get the feeling of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Its weird that I feel this way? LOL

One other thing guys, this will **** off PC gamers like me because of the majority o...

How is FF14 an exclusive when it is also coming to PC?

Ummm....So the PS4 is just like the Xbox one minus the DRM......What the hell is going on with the console industry?? Tv this Tv that, blah, blah....What about the games??

Update: Well, they are showing some interesting games. My apologies.

The reason this game is using 5 gigs of RAM is because of the fact that the game data AND THE GRAPHICS DATA are sharing the SAME RAM FOR CRYING OUT LOUD PEOPLE!! How could you not see this, guys? If this was two separate RAM system like on PC, then one GB would be used for graphics and 4 GB used on system RAM, but the PS4 is a UNIFIED RAM ARCHITECTURE. Really guys....I am disappointed that none of you could logically see this as I did.

Cool story bro. Got anymore lies to tell us? How about the truth, which is you do not have a gaming PC. Nice lie though, console gamer. Only an idiot would use something else other than Steam for games.

Also, people with old i7-920's only upgrade their graphics card and still get good frame rates. The ones who screw up a PC build are the ones who picked an under powered processor to power their computer. Like I had one idiot friend of mine pick an Core i3 series processor pa...

No PC person in their right mind will waste money on any AMD APU, even if it was the same thing as the PS4. A dedicated GPU card and CPU are far more powerful. It will be many years before the power of a HD7970 GHZ video card and an Intel's top of line CPU power are in one chip. If they tried to build such a chip today, then it would require 700 watts of power and be freaking huge. They heat would also be insane. You really lack understanding of the PC world.

Guys, consoles will never hold a candle to PC in graphics. I've got many PS3 and Xbox360 friends who where ignorant like you consolers, until I showed them all the games on my PC at default settings where I did not touch anything that deals with graphics and they were blown away by the draw distances, the color depth, texture detail and sharpness versus their consoles. I even got over 2/3rds of my console friends to build a gaming PC, especially after they saw Steam games sales. Most of t...

Nvidia is mad because they lost the PC GPU performance battle to AMD and now they lost the console battle to AMD. Nvidia, therefore, released the 700 series GPUs and the Titan to be on top again, albeit temporarily, to get cash because they are scared.

They are trying their damnest to prevent a snowball effect of AMD outselling them by a huge margin. Think about, if consumers see the words AMD used for all consoles then they will have a tendency to pick AMD GPU products over Nv...

What you fail to realize is that the default settings in PC games give you better graphics than consoles. The people that upgrade are the ones who want to mess around with graphics settings to get much, much more graphics detail, they like 120 FPS of game play, or they are attention whores that want to show off to everyone how uber there PC is compared to others. Really though, 40-60 FPS is more than enough for smooth game play.

Dang son!! Now that is a sound post you have there. Unfortunately, you will be in the same situation I am. You explain it to consolers as to why PC is better, yet they just ignore you and keep on blasting the same old BS about how GDDR5 is sooo good when all it stands for is fifth generation graphics DDR RAM, but is NOT DDR5, but is actually based on DDR3 system RAM. I see no point anymore in trying..They all of sudden became "PC experts", yet they could not hold a candle to buildin...

The PC will win this generation. The Oculus Rift virtual reality head set is a PC only device that will shake up the gaming industry just as the Steam digital distribution kept the PC platform from dying out like all those stupid idiots said would happen. LOL....

Not to mention that Microsoft has made a mistake of allowing their accessories to work on PC. This only further removes the need to go console. After all, if the Xbox controllers and the Kinect 1 and upcoming Kinect 2 w...

It is expected of consolers like you to be ignorant of PC hardware that came out in 2007 considering that you are just a consoler that has never built a gaming PC. In 2007 the top CPU was the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 and the top GPU was the Nvidia 8800GTX. With this setup, a gamer could play Crysis 1 at max details which looks a hell of a lot better than any Uncharted game. Today, some PC gamers are still using the 8800GTX video card to play Battlefield 3.

It is best that...

You consolers can be some of the biggest hypocrites ever. So you guys say graphics does not matter when the PC is compared to the PS4, but you guys trash talk the Wii U and the Xbox One. Give me a break....

Also, you consolers keep on talking about your silly optimizations, but when I make $500 bets that a PS4 will not get more computational work done for the World Community Grid projects if they port this to the PS4 versus my I7-3820 with HD7970 graphics card PC, you guys are ...

Not that any of you consolers will listen but here it goes:

1) The PCI express buss is NOT a bottleneck for PC's because the texture data sent over the buss is highly compressed. A 3 GB texture primitive is compressed to about 1.5 GB when sent over the PCI express buss that is at 8 gigabytes/sec transfer rate. Our CPU's take the raw data from the game engine and do the compressing and then send this data down the PCI express buss to where the GPU uncompresses the data...
