Real world data benchmarks with Mantle API vs. DirectX 11 API show that Intel i7's are actually so powerful that they bottleneck the GPU under DirectX 11! Mantle proves that optimizations only help weak hardware get the largest performance boost. Those of us with Intel i7 CPU's only get a 10% boost vs DirectX, but under DirectX the i7 processors still destroy those weaker processors that are using Mantle!!!
This should make it clear to anyone out there that the best optimizations in the world will not make weak hardware beat the most powerful hardware that is not using optimized software.
Actually optimizations only help weak systems improve in performance. The Mantle patch from AMD proved this. You know what I find ironic is that Nvidia is all about their $1000 Titan GPU being the best, but in the next few hours with AMD's launch event in Hawaii, it is going to get defeated by a new GPU by AMD called the R9-290X that they promise will not cost more than $600. This news if for PC gamers. I don't think they are trying to force console players over. This is BIG deal because we will not have to use resource hungry Windows that takes 2 GB of RAM just to run the OS!!! This Steam OS is PURPOSE BUILT for gaming. So, it will leave more RAM for games! This means we will not have to buy uber hardware just to get over the resource "TAX" that Windows puts on hardware!!
