The best time to sell to casuals is during holiday season. They should've have the 3DS version come out early 2015 and the wii u version in the winter of 2014.
In the summer, only Wii U owners will buy the game.
In the winter (holiday season), people with and without the Wii U may pick up the game AND the system.
That's why it makes sense for the 3ds version to be out in the summer (not really pushing 3ds sales, but people with the 3ds will pick it up) and for the Wii U version to release in the winter when people may consider buying a system for it. (and other games should be out by then too)

A lot of wii games were bad because of the forced motion control waggling...a lot of those games would've been better if they didn't try to implement motion.

People keep saying that PS3 will be able to reach Wii numbers, which is highly unlikely at this point because the PS4 is out. After a year or two from now, sales of PS3 will probably drop significantly because people will choose to buy the PS4. Even if it does reach wii numbers, it won't just take a year or two like you said.

I never said PS4 was doing anything wrong? I said it was doing great. It had an amazing launch worldwide and in Japan. I said that the Wii U lost all of its momentum because of the lack of software and I said that the PS4 will build its momentum because of its great lineup of games! Otherwise, it'd be normal for Knack to outsell DKTF. Plus, PS4 has a greater install base than Wii U, so it'd be normal for their games to sell more, especially since there are not as many games right now on PS4(of course, the PS4 will get tons of great games very soon)

I have a question about the metroid prime series. So...people keep asking for metroid prime 4, but i thought that the metroid prime series was a trilogy - the story wrapped up in prime 3 right? So would retro really want to start a new story with a metroid prime 4?

The games you named were from the Gamecube era. (Melee, sunshine, and lots of sonic games). Apparently, in Nintendo's "glory days", their console only sold 22 million.
Maybe you were talking about software though. But the Wii U software is getting just as good as the Gamecube's. 3D World, a sonic racer, a sonic platformer, Smash bros on the way. The wii had those games as well (mario, sonic, smash). So you obviously weren't talking about software.
