Is there any source for this or is it just made up ego massage?
Yeah, I’m aware of that.
My point is: they CAN do arcade-like games, but a more modern metagame would make their work more appealing to the wide public.
Think about Resogun post-launch or Alienation (progression and unlocks). Then compare it with the evolveless, stale Nex Machina... It’s pretty clear that the meta game on the latest is much less appealing... The focus on leaderboards is surely not enough to keep the audience, since leaderboards mean nothing to the ...
The problem is not leaving Sony, but abandoning what made them special. Yeah, they were not profiting (mostly due to bad choices in design in their latest games?), but they could have fixed their business choices instead of doing a complete studio morph into a trend copy machine.
As a long time consumer, I really hope they get their s*** straight while they can.
In this case "take the risk to do what hundreds of other studios are doing and release it only when the market is oversaturated and the fanbase is already well stablished on higher profile titles".
I loved the company, but they did it to themselves when they decided to be an average studio at the latest trend, instead of focusing on still being the best at what they did and finding ways to be profitable with what made them special.
Hopefully the...
Can’t wait for permanent input lag.
^ JRPG is a subgenre, it means much more than a “made in Japan” tag.
What defines JRPG? And ARPG? They’re mostly incompatible when it comes to action, but can be matched apart from this.
The main differences are JRPG usually is turn based, has this anime based style, main characters have to look like children, big focus on story, lots of dialogues, central hub.
ARPG can combine many of these elements, as the Soulslike are doing for quite a while. Sometimes a game doesn’t fit perfectly on (sub) category and they borrow a lot of elem...
Seems like a very nice game! Definitely on the radar now.
This kind of video, while appreciated by fans eager for info, breaks the 4th wall and the illusion too much to my taste. Also removed the joy of some combos discovery. Less would be better.
The first few seconds are enough to scream "BL2.5!!!", but that's really not my grip. What annoyed more is the big lack of intention in most of this loooong trailer. Most of it really seemed like random clips put together by a dumb robot.
I'm sure there are lots of new and interesting abilities, perks and mechanics, but they also showed nothing of it.
Curious about what would be the "objective criteria" chosen by you...
Anyway, it went way downhill and then changed a lot with the recent games. The two latest games can't be included in the mess they were making.
It's a miracle. The community is starting to see that game developers actually develop their games.
Kudos!
I absolutely love the franchise, but this trailer was so uninspired and random... Good thing they already have their fanbase set.
To me, it means the first game where they stopped caring about excellence. Glitches, bad controls, ridiculous pace (the tutorial lasts 8 hours?), bad story, untied mechanics (trading caravans) etc.
The first in the steep downhill.
Awesome game, top notch roguelite.

Agreed, Spinal. Slowly the community will figure out / make up the craziest theories.
I wouldn’t start over if I were you. You’re pretty early into the game and you’ll still die a lot, mostly to bosses. I had to start over (accidentally killed the first vendor) and it was nice to play “easy mode” through the well know content. Once it was over, all the difficulty came back.
In Demon’s Souls you shifted the world tendency. It was a very nice mechanic, since some events and items only triggered in certain conditions.
Until we know the extent of the Dragon Rot mechanic, we can’t really evaluate it.
If it’s how I know this far (few bosses in), it changes a total of nothing at all.
^ At least that boss a different challenge...
Yeah, nothing false. Still bullshit taken out of proportion.
Watch Dogs could be useful to solving criminality all around the world as well.
Warcraft 3 could be useful to stop civil war.
No Man’s Sky could be useful in a trip to other galaxies.
