I guess what the tabloid wanted was a "don't worry, PC will have great graphics" or "we deal with PC in a very specific way, a completely different version of the game, as it deserves, to benefit the immense power of the 3000 USD machines".

I didn't even remember how it was like to be so tense when playing horror games. I played a lot of them and the last one I remember doing this was... Silent Hill, more than 10 years ago.

If it has microtransactions, the design is made with this is mind. If they don't make walls of progression or content hidden behind the paywall, no one would purchase through the MTs. Also it is not purely aesthetic this time, as they have confirmed.
So, yes, it affects everyone, including those who don't buy the locked content. The game is automatically worse when they decide to make it this way. Sometimes only a little, sometimes a lot.
Even worse than the policies was their attitude.
If they were direct and precise in communicating their choices, telling everyone the reasons and consequences, maybe it would be possible to receive the ideas in a better way and they could have changes them instead of having to completely scrap them.
