Sales do matter.
Gears Of War was once on the level of the biggest games out there sales wise, it is heavily marketed and was suppose to be a flagship title for the Xbox One. The Last Guardian is a niche title for PlayStation fans, that had little to no marketing.
The Last Guardian is doing well for what it is. Gears Of War 4 isn't.

On topic, PlayStation overcame a lot of doubt that people had (for some strange reason) and showed once again they are in completely control of the console market. Aside from the Switch pulling a Wii, I don't think 2017 will be any different.
I said this the other day, but I'll repeat it here.
Insomniac is one of the fastest, best budgeting, efficient developers in the entire industry and they have pretty much the entire team working on Spider-Man and the engine was done before Ratchet and Clanks development ended, since it is an upgraded version of the same engine.

The video this article is referencing is full of all sorts of mistakes, not just the Ni-Oh watermark. It calls Nier a PS4 exclusive, not a console exclusive (Nier has been announced for PC)
It is more likely that the watermarks got mixed up, over Nier being cancelled for PC and Ni-Oh coming to PC. Who knows? But it seems unlikely. They both release in the next few months.
They also put Detroit and Dreams in the video even though they haven't been off...
Bloodborne and The Last Guardian are essential (if you're into those kind of games).
