Since Scalebound's cancellation this all seems like damage control. He just seem to be re-saying the same empty statements he has been making for years. New IP's are important, lot's of stuff in the pipeline, just wait..... etc.
It's time for him to be quiet and produce something relevant.
Phil Spencer's promises are as hollow as it gets.
It obviously sells well enough. It is on it's 6th game in the main series with lots of spin offs and remakes.
Not every game needs to be marketed heavily, marketing can inflate the budget quite quickly which makes you reliant on the title selling multi millions.
How people become MAU's is buying consoles, so everything after that is an excuse.
When you have a limited amount of upcoming games, cancellations are a big deal.
The reaction kind of shows you how limited the line up already was if anything.
Yep at maximum. It is also now tracking behind the 360 by around 2M.

PS4 has the games.

The reason I listed 1,2 Switch is because it at least is a multiplayer game that uses that Joy Con. Don't get confused, I think it looks beyond stupid.
26M is the maximum. It doesn't pull significant numbers anywhere aside from NA and UK.
The PS4 is selling so well because it is selling all around the world.
If the data is correct the Xbox One is tracking behind the 360 by a few million units.

Developer support is going to be a huge issue.

It's true, all of it.

With 1,2 Switch, you shouldn't have to buy it, it should come with the console. Same for the charger really.
Nintendo Switch - $300
Pro Controller - $70
Zelda - $60
1,2 Switch - $50
That is a pretty basic setup and is quite pricey. Throw in the Joy-Con charger too.
I think it is great as a handheld and if anything that is why it will do better than the Wii U.
With limited 3rd party support it is going to be a tough sell. The hardcore Nintendo fan base will buy it and probably love it, but your average gamer most likely won't be crazy excited about it. Especially, when you factor it the crazy prices they are asking for accessories and some games (like SF2). I expect it's launch to be huge out of the gate and then have a massive drop that never recovers properly.
I think the only people in the market for new powerful more expensive Xbox hardware are (generally) hardcore Xbox faithful.
