Let's say that's their plan, it won't work. Why? Because coming into next gen most are expecting to not having to buy a Xbox to enjoy their games. Even if Microsoft announces this, it won't be enough to convince most people that they won't cave and drop exclusivity down the line because we've all gone through Microsoft's song and dance before. I think they release one more console and look at the performance from there and determine their future in regards to that. They should have a much more realistic expectation of how it should perform this go around. We do know that they have a handheld in the works as well

Once again people are putting what they want/hope will happen vs what actually makes sense in reality.
It doesn't make sense for Sony to go this route unless they don't view themselves as running a successful business currently.
