Considering that nukeitall submitted this rumor, I'm taking it with a grain of salt.
In the end the PS4 is no more restrictive than any current gen or previous gen consoles while the XB1 is obviously a lot more restrictive than what we have now.
So yeah, the Pubs can implement DRM on the PS4, but Sony isn't making it easier or more inviting to do so like MS is doing with the XB1.
***"Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch, but we are exploring the possibilities with our partners."***
As of now you can't rent or loan used or new games on the XB1.
have single player and multi-player portions of games sold separately at discounted prices then. It's silly that I buy a full game at full retail price and yet have to pay another fee to unlock the other half of a game I paid in full for.
I don't and will not consider pay to play online an appropriate, good, or fair way to get revenue. Sony doesn't market PS+ at all. They should at least try that before resorting to this anti-consumer BS. Charging to play online i...
^^ EXACTLY.
I'd rather have this model:
- Free PSN -
~ Free demos
~ Access to multi-player
~ Any app that can be found free else
~ Any other gaming ESSENTIAL features
- PS Plus -
~ Free games every month for the length of your sub
~ Cross game chat
~ Cloud saves
~ Automatic game and system updates
~ Any other gaming features that aren't essential to the traditiona...
^^^ This is the direction FF needs to go. Turn Based games are outdated. Sure there have been great turn based games this gen, but none match the graphical beauty that Final Fantasy strives for. It would totally kill immersion to have a separate battle screen with turn based combat. Real Time battle-Kingdom Hearts/FF12 style is the way Final Fantasy needs to go.
Final Fantasy is back! Good job Nomura!
This right here is PROOF of why FFXIII was ridiculed to death for its sequel after sequel which was causing the delay of this SPECTACULAR TRUE FINAL FANTASY game worthy of the main series and too good to be a spin-off.
Finally, Final Fantasy is back!
***"And personally, PS Plus was a good deal by itself already."***
Then there is no need to lock MP then. I'd rather have online passes than being forced to pay an extra fee after paying full price for a full game.
***And it's NOT already like this for the PS3"***
YES IT IS. Publishers CAN impose other sorts of DRM on games for PS3, 360, Wii U, etc. besides online passes. They just haven't done it. Just because they haven't done it doesn't mean they can't do it. The PS4 is NO more restrictive than the PS3.
For example, there is NOTHING stopping a publisher from locking the ENTIRE disc for a game and then requiring you to register the game online...
***"It's a great service that most people would get anyways :)"***
Then why tie MP to PS+ to begin with?
And whose fault is that?
I'd rather have that than next-gen sucking because of crap we can no longer do.
As much as I want KH3 I'd rather wait until Nomura is done with FFXV and then work on KH3. I want the KH3 experience to be as good as possible. I don't want to finally get my hand on KH3 only to be disappointed.
That's fake right? I don't remember any booing.
This was the only way Sony could made it 100% clear. The only way people would get the message was if Sony took MS' policies and directly said "no this will not be on our platform."
Sony had already made it evident that the PS4 would play used games, but people were still questioning it. "You can still enjoy the PS4 old school without an internet connection at all", this statement was clear as hell that the PS4 will play used games, but for some people...
@Objective
*******"So you would rather pay for online gaming than have drm or limited used game rights...? Uh ok then..."*******
How did you come to that conclusion?
How about free online gaming AND no drm AND no limited used games rights? Doesn't that sound a hell of a lot better than choosing the lesser of two evils?
Please tell me WHY I should have to pay an EXTRA fee to unlock the other half of my game that I ALREADY paid 100% FULL price for? There is NO reason at all for that. This type of practice is BS and I despise MS for starting it.
It doesn't matter how good a service is. If it's soooo good you shouldn't have to resort to that BS. They should at least give us the option to purchase the MP and SP separately day one at discounted prices then. I will not pay full price f...
We should not bend over and accept this crap. Yeah I know PS+ is a great service, but that is even more of a reason why the MP shouldn't be locked to PS+. Sony should just market PS+ showing the value in it and how much people can save with free games and discounts over time by subscribing to PS+.
PS+ can stand on it's own without the MP. People who are PS+ members have already proven that. Once you've tried it you're hooked. No need for MP. Sony should be try...
Now I'm really pulling for the Wii U more than I ever have. I hope the Wii U has a strong holiday this year so that I can at least play major multiplat titles online.
But for real though PS+ is great on it's own. It doesn't need MP has a hook. Sony should just market it more instead of keeping the MP hostage.
This KILLS it for me. While I will still get the PS4, it just hurts me knowing that I won't be able to play online. I agree that PS+ has great value, but I like having physical copies of my games, but even further than I just refuse to pay to play online. I will not pay an additional fee to unlock the other half of a game that I purchased FULL price for.
We need to start a campaign to get rid of the forced fee. Sony said they are for the consumer. Making us have to pay to...
I don't want to call it ugly because it does remind me of the PS2 and I don't find the PS2 ugly at all. So I'll just say it looks disappointing, leaves more to be desired, etc. It looks better than the XB1, but that isn't saying much.
In the end both consoles lack that "next-gen feel" and just aren't visually impressive. They don't "wow" you or leave you in awe. Just one big "meh".
lol I guess no one can call it a flop anymore.
