the vast majority of games on psn are p2p just like live
live has 2 setups available to developers
p2p and dedicated
most developers choose to use the p2p setup because it is easy and low maintenance
there are games on live that have dedicated servers, unfortunately those games aren't very good
as for people like you, my best advice is pray for your favorite game to go free to play on silver on occasion as they do sometimes
