I hate charging for Online services, but if Xbox went away, PS3 would never have cross game chat and Home would be immediately scrapped.

El Zoro, online gaming was on the PC-MAC before Xbox. Also Xbox wasn't the first console to go online either. Dreamcast beat them to it(phantasy star online etc.), and X-Band actually let people play against each other (SNES days).
Granted Achievements were innovative in a sense, but really its just a score tagged to 1 player profile which was already around on Yahoo!games in the 90's. I will give credit achievements(high score tracking), being the first "on a console"...

To be fair, the music was created before LBP. However, Looking at the commercial and how it relates to "playing online" I can see a clear relation.

Personally, the game is frustrating at times(i.e. difficult) and I think the jumping is a bit off. The saving grace for the game however is how you can make levels, gamemodes, and characters.
4-player is awesome on it, I don't mean Online either. The reviewers looked past it though since the game was *almost* 100% innovative, which is actually nice in the sea of first person shooters and sports games.
